King Charles III, a life of service

Happy 76th Birthday to His Majesty, King Charles III.
This isn’t his actual birthday. He was born on November 14, 1948. This is a token date for an annual celebration. Different countries in the commonwealth use different dates.

In Canada we always celebrated the Queen’s birthday on the first Monday closet to May 24.

“24th of May, the Queen’s birthday
If we don’t get a holiday, we’ll all run away”

"A jubilant Dwyer said: "We've got so many people here - not only the owners of Asfoora, but 40 or 50 of my owners from home who would saw the end of their leg off to have a runner at Royal Ascot. It's amazing. I think there will be the mother of all parties tonight! "

Midfielder Adam Wharton said: "He was just trying to keep us all positive. He was saying it's not the end of the world. "We were thinking 'we're still top of the group, we didn't lose, we got a draw, we've just got to reflect on the game, see how we can get better and look forward to the next game.' That's all you can do in tournament football."

"It follows Prince William's visit to St George's Park shortly before the squad left for Germany where he presented the squad with shirts and spent a brief period with manager Gareth Southgate."

The Prince of Wales, known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, was also in attendance at today's ceremony.

Charles is the sovereign of the Order and appointments are his personal gift made independently of Downing Street to those who have public office or have contributed significantly to national life.

Camilla is patron of Maggie's Cancer Care Centres, founded in Edinburgh in 1996, while she is also patron or president of a number of charities based in Scotland and is an honorary member of the local Ballater Women's Institute and the Upper Deeside Art Society.

"Sir Keir Starmer met the king at Buckingham Palace, and the monarch took the constitutionally necessary but largely ceremonial step of inviting the Labour Party leader to form a new government, confirming Starmer's role as the new prime minister. Starmer left the palace and headed straight to Downing Street to give his first public address as the country's leader."

King Charles set for 'historic Ireland visit' as he could follow in late Queen's footsteps

"King Charles is poised to make a historic state visit to the Republic of Ireland amid plans for a reset in Anglo-Irish relations. London and Dublin are reportedly keen for the monarch to make the trip, following previous state visits to Ireland by Queen Elizabeth II and George V."

BB1pz1Md.img

"A senior government source in Ireland told The Sunday Times it was clear Charles "wants to visit" the country and that such a trip would be helpful in helping reset relations. According to a UK Government source, King Charles and Queen Camilla "definitely" want to go, but such a visit would take four to six months to prepare. The monarch's health would no doubt also be a factor in any decision."

"Charles would likely be in Ireland for several days if the visit were to go ahead, and he would likely be attending functions in Dublin and also visiting other parts of the country. When he was Prince of Wales, Charles became the first member of the British Royal Family to visit Ireland since it declared independence from Britain in 1919."

Prince William has chosen to fully support King Charles in making a significant decision
1207312_2685285_3insllllll-(1)_updates.jpg

During King Charles' reign, he has prioritized a streamlined monarchy, aiming to prevent Buckingham Palace's balcony from becoming overcrowded with non-working royals and their families as seen in the past.

There is no inclination to introduce additional royals to lighten the load, and this strategy is expected to continue in the future—a direction that former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond views as a positive step. "I still hold to the idea that the slimmed down Royal Family IS indeed the right model for the future," Jennie told OK! "It's in line with most European monarchies and is sensitive to the constant criticism that the royal family cost taxpayers too much."

"So I think the King and William are entirely right to be determined to keep the core of working royals a small, tight unit that can be accountable to the public purse." Jennie's insights follow the revelation that Prince William is set to continue his father's vision of a pared-down monarchy.

"As hurricane Beryl wreaks havoc across the Caribbean, King Charles has sent a message to all those affected. The British monarch—who is head of state in eight Caribbean countries— has also made a substantial donation to the relief effort according to aides."

“My family and I have been profoundly saddened to learn of the dreadful destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl across the Caribbean,” the King said in a statement released by Buckingham Palace yesterday. “Above all, we send our heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of those who have so cruelly lost their lives."

"I have seen the extraordinary spirit of resilience and solidarity that people across the Caribbean have shown in response to such destruction – a spirit which has been called upon too often—and so I also send my particular gratitude to the emergency services and volunteers who are supporting the rescue and recovery efforts."

"At this most difficult of times, please know that our most special thoughts and prayers are with all those whose lives, livelihoods and property have been so utterly devastated.”

"It appeared that the monarch took such pleasure in meeting the team on Saturday, that he was unsure who to support ahead of the West Indies' first Test match against England on Wednesday.
Team captain Kraigg Brathwaite gave an insight into his conversation with the King: "He said he would probably be supporting the West Indies and we’re very grateful."

July 10, 2024

"For the third time in the tournament, England snatched victory from the jaws of defeat."

"In his message to the team and their coach, the king said: “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you the warmest congratulations on reaching the final of the U.E.F.A. European Championship—and in sending our very best wishes for Sunday’s match."

"“If I may encourage you to secure victory before the need for any last minute wonder-goals or another penalties drama, I am sure the stresses on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated!"

“Good luck, England.” He signed the message “Charles R” for “Charles Rex.”
