This isn’t his actual birthday. He was born on November 14, 1948. This is a token date for an annual celebration. Different countries in the commonwealth use different dates.

In Canada we always celebrated the Queen’s birthday on the first Monday closet to May 24.

King Charles III welcomes Japanese emperor and empress for state visit.

"King Charles III and Queen Camilla are hosting Japan's Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako this week as part of a belated and previously postponed visit originally set for 2020—before being railroaded by the COVID-19 pandemic. Though this event has been years in the making, the British royals were still reportedly forced to "adapt" their plans amid the family's ongoing health woes and the upcoming special election."

Prince William is leading the royal welcome.

"The Prince of Wales, 42, officially kicked off the Emperor and Empress of Japan's state visit to the U.K. on Tuesday, June 25, by welcoming them at their hotel in London on behalf of his father, King Charles."

"Dressed in a black morning suit and red tie, Prince William shook hands with Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako during the morning meeting ahead of a busy day of engagements. After the greeting, William traveled with the couple to Horse Guards Parade in London for the ceremonial welcome with King Charles and Queen Camilla."

The Queen and Edward became members of Order of the Thistle - Scotland's greatest order of chivalry on Day two of Holyrood week.

The King and Queen arrived at St Giles Cathedral around 11 am and received a royal salute from the Guard of Honour, while the Band played the National Anthem.

The Prince of Wales, known as the Duke of Rothesay in Scotland, was also in attendance at today's ceremony.

Charles is the sovereign of the Order and appointments are his personal gift made independently of Downing Street to those who have public office or have contributed significantly to national life.

Camilla is patron of Maggie's Cancer Care Centres, founded in Edinburgh in 1996, while she is also patron or president of a number of charities based in Scotland and is an honorary member of the local Ballater Women's Institute and the Upper Deeside Art Society.

There is no inclination to introduce additional royals to lighten the load, and this strategy is expected to continue in the future—a direction that former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond views as a positive step. "I still hold to the idea that the slimmed down Royal Family IS indeed the right model for the future," Jennie told OK! "It's in line with most European monarchies and is sensitive to the constant criticism that the royal family cost taxpayers too much."

"As hurricane Beryl wreaks havoc across the Caribbean, King Charles has sent a message to all those affected. The British monarch—who is head of state in eight Caribbean countries— has also made a substantial donation to the relief effort according to aides."

“My family and I have been profoundly saddened to learn of the dreadful destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl across the Caribbean,” the King said in a statement released by Buckingham Palace yesterday. “Above all, we send our heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of those who have so cruelly lost their lives."

"King Charles hosted the team at Buckingham Palace over the weekend. The King participated in a "spud" with two brothers called up for the West Indies, Mikyle and Jeremiah Louis, after being taught some Caribbean hand gestures."

Princess Royal returns to public duties with visit to horse-riding event in Gloucestershire​

"The Princess Royal has begun her first public engagement since suffering concussion in ahorse-rel ated accident.


"Anne, 73, spent five nights in hospital after she was believed to have been struck by the animal while out walking on June 23. It is understood the visit to the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) National Championships at Hartpury University and Hartpury College in Gloucestershire is the first step in a phased return to public duties as Anne recovers from concussion."

"The association is celebrating its 55th anniversary this year and the princess has a long involvement with the organisation. Anne became patron in 1971 and president in 1986."
