Three people have died and four have been left seriously injured after a knife attack at a festival in Germany.

Armed police swarmed the streets of Solingen as they launched a desperate manhunt for the killer who struck at 9.45pm before fleeing.

The usually quiet Fronhof central square was packed for the Festival of Diversity in the city which lies just a few miles from Dusseldorf.

But those gathered close to the stage were left horrified as a man randomly began stabbing passers-by with a knife in the neck, local media reported.

No arrests have been made as of yet, with the suspect said to be on the run and a situation centre set up in Café Kersting following the horrific rampage.

It's just incredible that one person can cause so much damage to so many people....this coming so soon after the children were killed and 11 people injured in a stabbing by a 17 year old lunatic here in England.. what on earth is going on ?
 

That is a highly motivated attacker and/or full of rage. Possibly drugs as well. Just stabbing or trying to cut one person is work.

I can't help but think this is terror related given the target. It's too high profile.

The authorities are looking for someone. They should give a description. I know we’re not in Germany to spot him. Without info, we’re putting together a variety of scenarios. This is a petty gripe for me because in any crime here the authorities refuse to describe the attacker. We create real or false narratives without the basic facts.

I always think about that Lilac. It seems even more tragic and sad when people who were just enjoying themselves and life get taken out by circumstances like these (or even accidents). I hope they have the means to catch that evil man soon and that his punishment will be long and harsh. I feel so sorry for the victims' families and friends.
 
Holly, you are faster than me. I read it for the first time here. Such things never happen in Poland or Hungary. If you know the answer, you know the background (origin and religion) of the murderer.
And i want to add: If they catch him, he'll be declared mentally insane the same day. No trial. It is almost every time the case here in Germany.

the one in Australia was by a white person, Australian born, I don't think he had any religion.

The one in England was a black person, British born, of christian religion.

Religion and country of birth origin and racial origin don't seem common factors.

I think the Brit and German incidents are definitely related. Like the school shootings in the US, once it gets on TV, it provides a pathway for future psychopaths to become "famous". I think there's going to be a wave of these incidents, just like the shootings in the US. The only difference is choice of weapon.
 
The militant group said in a statement on its Telegram account that the attack was carried out by one of its members "in revenge for Muslims in Palestine and everywhere".

This makes no sense...:unsure:
 
Asylum seeker huh ?.. working on behalf of Isis, if their admission is to be believed ... just shows who are we all taking in as so called asylum seekers...

Ok kadee - so he was from a catholic family. Not sure if he had any religious belief himself.

Same point remains - no commonality of race, religion, country of birth etc between perpetrators of these events.
 
I hate these Islamic terrorist groups so damned much!! Too many people consider them the face of Islam and they are not!! It will be interesting to see how the judicial process plays out and what punishment will be order for that boy.
