This 2 pound bundle of spice and sass is exceeding expectations and meeting all her milestones in spite of her cleft!

Koko continues to face medical challenges because of the cleft palate issue, but she’s strong and healthy in spite of it, managing her kibble without much trouble, and drinking from a no drip bottle though she will go to the big dogs’ bowl and drink from that randomly too.

And I’m sure it’s no surprise, but we’ve chosen to keep her. 🤣 I’ve never been a foster fail before, fostered many dogs over the years, but this wee one has wormed her way into both our hearts. 💞

Ron in particular is absolutely smitten, this big strong man who, when we first got together, proclaimed emphatically that he was not a little dog person! (I had a couple of 3-4 pound chihuahuas at the time and told him I was a package deal, me and my little dogs! 😉)

She’s 11 weeks, will have her last round of shots next week, and once that’s done can start going out into the world to charm everyone else the way she has us!IMG_5793.jpegIMG_5967.jpegIMG_5959.jpegIMG_8614.jpegIMG_5857.jpeg

Totally understandable, i know i couldn't have resisted her!

i was a 'big dog person' over half my life. My early childhood was spent surrounded by hunting dogs so well trained by Dad that even my commands as toddler were obeyed. The only one who didn't obey me thoroughly was the mix breed house dog, Buffy, who was charged with keeping me safe. She'd chase soap bubbles because it made me giggle, but she wouldn't let me wander too far from the house, or near the river if no-one else outside.

Then in my 40's. My daughter was a gifted a Pekingese by her best friend's grandparents. She was so smart, and had such personality i could not resist.

Oh, I knew it! It's wonderful that you and your erstwhile "not a little dog person" hubby decided to keep Koko! You fought to keep her alive, and now she's flourishing. During the process, you all fell in love. ❤️ There's nothing more you can do but keep her. She is a little furry ball of delight! 😊

How wonderful Ronni & Ron.
Of course you fell in love with her.
I expected no less.
Can you adopt her then?
Yes Ma’am! We’re in the process of that now and it’s hugely helpful that my daughter coordinates adoptions from this rescue! We’re able to cut many corners and the adoption fee will be waived in our case because of the amount of time and money we’ve already put into her care.

What a precious little face! I'm glad you're keeping her. At least you know she is in good hands.

How lucky all of you are!
She's so tiny.....will she be getting any bigger?
@dobielvr yes she will. She’s a week away from 3 months old and is charting to be 4.7-5.2 pounds at her adult weight. Still tiny, but she’ll be a little more sturdy than she is currently.

She has so much fur that she looks like a chubby little butterball, 🤣 and she’s definitely healthy and strong, but when I pick her up my hand wraps almost completely around her torso, and under all that fluff she’s slender and delicate.

This is fabulous Ronni.
What a great addition to your already wonderful family. That’s a really lucky dog you have. You sure have put in a lot of time and money into this dog. A good thing your daughter coordinates some of this. I’m really excited for you.
