Labor Day Gas Price "Gouging" ?

I went up to the local gas station this afternoon....to fill my gas cans after doing some mowing this weekend. The price of gas was up almost a dollar over what it has been in recent weeks. I said "nuts" and went back home. Then, I got on the Gas Buddy website, and started checking prices in the State...and they were All up between 75 cents to a dollar. I can only attribute this to the Labor Day holiday, and gas stations deciding to "pad" their profits.

Still dropping around here. Had to fill up last week (on fumes) and it has dropped another 6¢. That's in a location with 2 interstates, etc.

For these of you who blame high gas prices on “greedy oil companies” please explain why gas prices have dropped over the last few months. Were the oil companies suddenly less greedy? I’ve never understood the need to vilify big business. Theres plenty wrong there to be sure, but I don’t think they’re the monsters some of y’all seem to think.

We've been getting gouged continuously by oil companies ever since there were oil companies. Sure "supply and demand" is the general determining factor with fuel prices. But, the oil companies are notorious for finding excuses to bump up prices.
I can't remember a time when gas prices didn't go up on a travel holiday. No surprise. Someone scolded for vilifying the oil companies and believing they have our best interests in their calloused, greedy, manipulating hearts asking why prices were going down if so greedy. During a period since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, a certain oil company was making profits of $2,200 per SECOND. $132,000 per MINUTE, $7,920,000 an HOUR $190,080,000 per DAY, I would say they filled their coffers and decided to give us all a break, but I know better.
