Lack of prices displayed in coffee shops

For two years I have been writing to the head office of the Muffin Break franchise regarding not displaying prices of their product in the cabinets.
Their response was always the same.
We will pass on your suggestions to the display cabinet committee.
Today whilst waiting for a new tyre to be fitted on my MG, I moseyed over for a coffee at Muffin Break and lo and behold, all produce now have a price tag attached.
A victory for persistence

So, what were you supposed to do? Ask ... how much is this one; how much is that one?
Exactly. At another cafe I asked the price of 7 items. The owner was getting peeved. I simply said if you had prices displayed then I would not have gone through this charade.
To which he said - “I do not need to display prices”
Me - “Sure, it is your prerogative, I am simply saying you might sell more if people knew how much everything cost”
He got angry and asked me to leave :D

I strongly believe that in today's day and age where coffee and muffin prices are what they are, posting prices on a chalkboard for all to see is the right thing to do.

Gone are the days where one could drop into their local coffee haunt, order up a cup of coffee along with a treat, and the bill came in at under a dollar. Reflecting on today's ubsurd prices, posting a price list is the least coffee businesses can do to afford patrons with a heads-up related to their overinflated offerings.

Good for you, yes persistence pays off. They should have prices displayed for all to see.I bet your not the only one who complained about it either and rightly so.

I operate under the opposite philosophy ... "If you have to hide the price, you're most likely ripping off the customers".

Although I can undoubtedly afford it, I never patronize such places.
You're exactly right Tommy! I hate it when I look online at a restaurant's website we are thinking of going to and there's no prices on their menus. Sure indicated that the restaurant is overpriced, so like you...I avoid them.

Bretrick....good for you for bringing it to the company's attention. I'm glad you got the desired results. And no...you shouldn't have to keep asking the price of things. I agree with @Aunt Marg that displaying prices is the right thing to do. In fact, it's the norm in most of the places we've patronized. Either prices are on the shelf where the items are or on a large board that's visible as soon as you walk up to place an order.

That is also a pet peeve of mine. I can't figure out what they're reasoning is, not displaying the prices. I always end up going to websites like menuwithprice.com, but you never know if the prices shown are current.

That's true Caroln. Especially since inflation has really affected the food sources. I've notice quite a rise in prices at my favorite Atlantic City (NJ) restaurant since COVID. I used to love to get a dinner from there when I stayed at the timeshare, but now I think twice. I also noticed they dropped some menu items.

they want you to come in and blindly spend $5 on a muffin another $5 on coffee no questions asked. it's bs. shouldn't hafta stand there and ask what everything costs. if i'm gonna get screwed outta money i have the right to know how much before i pay for it. :ROFLMAO:

Yes, deceiving marketing. Once coffee is made you're stuck having to pay £4 for it. Just ask ahead, if they refused to tell the actual price, go find a reasonable priced cuppa somewhere's else.

Wait bout a month and you'll see the store prices change down and advertised 😂😂😂
