The last 4-5 years I found I was having bowel problems, blamed it on everything I could think of. Coffee, diet, activity or lack of it, TV choices, anything I could think of. What I did discover and seems to be working is that I have become 'Lactose Intolerant'. I had been gouging on cottage cheese, cheese, half n half in my coffee or oatmeal and yogurt. I had grown up on a farm where milk was the drink of choice during my formative years. Never connected the problems up.
After a discussion with wife, she suggested that now in my senior years I could be LI. Said she had read that many seniors have that type of issue. I gave up all dairy products, except real butter. Found that it solved my issue and I'm returning to my former self. I worried that butter would be next but according to the 'real' web, butter has just a minute amount of lactose and usually will not bother me. I found that is the case, so I can still have melted butter on my baked sweet potatoes. I do cook with olive oil instead.
I hope the search is over now since I have many other worries to take up my obsessive thoughts.
