Ladies, How Do We Feel About Cosmetics?

Well gentlemen too I mean it's a free country;) But how do you feel about makeup and cosmetics? I don't wear it every day. If I'm going to work or just need an extra boost I'll get in the mirror and paint away. It makes me feel more attractive. I have natural coloring like Joan Didion, almost ghostly. It's not that it's horrible...But liner, shadow, mascara can make your eyes pop. It's fun to play around too. I have a shadow collection that are neon bright. At our age way bright can look clown-like. I thinking Lucille Ball. But a light touch and it can be subtle. I remember my Mom wouldn't run out for a quart of milk without hair and face "done". Me? Meh...not a big deal.

I don't wear cosmetics anymore. When I was young I'd spend as much as two hours getting it just right. These days I don't like putting in the time, and I actually look fresher without it. If I'm going out for an occasion and the skin under my eyes looks a bit dark or sallow (usually from lack of sleep), I might apply a smidgen of foundation and wave my magic mascara wand, but that's the maximum.

I wear make-up every day I'm at work...no foundation unless it's the dead of winter and I'm looking particularly pale..in the summer I'll wear tinted foundation for evening wear...but otherwise...I go to work wearing, mascara, Blush, and lipstick..nothing else... I wear the same if I'm going shopping. I haven't worn eye shadow or eye liner for years I think unless you know how to apply it properly it can make you look older than your years..

As for primer, foundation, etc..*meh*..I used that all when I was younger.. but ooh the irony..using it when my skin was perfect with no wrinkles...what was I thinking? ..nuts!!

Most of the time I don't wear any make up. On special occasions I'll put on foundation, blush, eye lid color, mascara, and lipstick. For the most part I don't go any where.

Four minutes or less of application and I'm good. I don't often wear much, I wore even less last time I went out for an evening of fun, sometimes I put a little extra eye shadow, but, I agree less is more flattering. For me it depends on the event. My next event I'm going all out with the shadow, I think as it's a 70's dance event, so, it calls for a bit of Flash to the disco look, though I never actually wore the kind of makeup I see in the pictures I see featured for a flash back to the past and certainly not those disco clothing, but, might as well have fun with it.

My normal routine if heading out for errands is tinted moisturizer, a little eyeliner, sometimes, not always, mascara, lip color.

I enjoy wearing makeup. I use a primer and sometimes primer and foundation, blush, eyebrow makeup and lipstick. I also polish my nails and wear perfume. I don't wear eye makeup anymore..but I used to love making up my eyes. :)

Only when I go out do I wear a tiny bit of concealer under my eyes and a bit of mascara and lip gloss. Anything more makes me feel like the painted lady.

Oh yes brows, I have to fill mine in, they can make or break you whole look.

Mine aren't thinning yet, but I'm sure they will...I got all the "bad stuff" from my mom (and sister got all the "goodies"). I have tried darkening my eyebrows a bit (with brow pencil), but it just didn't look right to me. My eyebrows match my hair perfectly - salt & pepper ash-brown and yellow-white - so it's all good.

I didn't really wear make up until my late 20's/early 30's. Never spent a lot of time on it, but just a little to make myself look a little better. Nowadays, I have some powder like make up from Estee Lauder (love it), mascara, eyebrow stuff and a little lipstick. If I am going somewhere 'special', will wear foundation. My older sis has never been one to wear make up nor do much with her hair and she looks 10 years old than she is, what a shame.
I think that's the driving force for me wanting to gussy up just a little.

I used to never walk out of this house without my makeup. Now, I hardly ever walk out of my house WITH makeup. When I do, I wear foundation, powder, eyebrow pencil, sometimes mascara and a little bit of lipstick. I put it on maybe 3 or 4 times a month. Well, only when I go to church if I go. Now, it's just a pain to put on. I don't like fooling with it. I tell myself, "Why bother? I'm not trying to catch a man."

Interesting responses, perfume always and the nails are acrylic. But with me the blush and lipstick are hit or miss. I love the BB creams, you don't even need concealer. But my eyes have always been my favorite to play with. Liner, multi shadows, mascara...the eyes take fifteen minutes, the rest two.

I never used face makeup and the amount of times I used lipstick can be counted on one hand. I always wore some eye makeup since I was a teen, as I got older I lightened up on what I used. I only use a powdered shadow, I have hazel eyes, so usually use either brown or natural greens. I use a black pencil to line the bottom only, but not too heavy. I only use mascara if I'm dressing up to go somewhere special.

When I was young I wouldn't go out without my eye makeup on, but now there's many days I go natural for my everyday errands. I don't do anything with my eyebrows at all any more for years now, when I was younger I plucked or shaved the lower part under my brow and used a powdered eyebrow makeup. I remember being so mad at my husband once when I was young, we were going out somewhere and were in a hurry. I was multi-tasking and only had one eyebrow made up, the other was natural. I looked in the car mirror and asked him why he didn't say anything, he honestly didn't notice. :) I just removed the eyebrow I had done.

Lol Seabreeze..that's so funny about the eyebrow. I miss eye makeup but my eyes are so sensitive everything bothers them..and I end up rubbing them. But..about husbands.years ago we went to this fancy dance..and I had on false eyelashes for like the first time. We had just finished a slow dance and sat down with another couple. We were talking and laughing and suddenly I noticed something on my husband's white collar..you got it...was my false eyelash. :)

So funny Karen! :D I never took the leap with false eyelashes, tried fake nails a couple of times in my teens and couldn't do the simplest things with them on, never used them again. I do so many outdoor things and work around the house and yard, that if I put polish on my nails it's very rare and usually clear.

Well I wear it sometimes & sometimes I don't. Most of the time I don't. I hate messing with it these days. I loved reading the eyebrow comments. It does seem like if an accident is going to happen...it's going to be a bad eyebrow mistake :D

I tell ya what..that was my last time with false eyelashes. :). We had a good laugh, though. I did fake nails once and I just didn't like them. I have good nails that are strong so that works. My mom still gets her acrylic nails...and she loves them. :)
