Las Vegas: A Very Thirsty Place!

Here is an almost unbelievable chart published by the Las Vegas Valley Water District, showing some of their user's monthly billings. Currently, average single-family home, $36, not too bad, considering it's a DESERT! About 5 inches of precipitation a YEAR! So obviously, people growing the usual plants and trees, must water them. Landscaping? Grass? How about a golf course (there are MANY in Vegas), at $117,000 A MONTH!

Major Casino/Hotel: $161,000 a MONTH! Can you imagine figures like these? It numbs my mind. imp

We average about $38 a Month here in Texas...We do not water the lawn!! (4acres)

Just curious, what is the source of your domestic water? Has the drought being spoken of in TX affected you much? Have the natural grasses browned out? Sorry if I ask too many questions! imp

Urban water comes from lakes that are dammed up rivers..There is only one natural lake in the state of Texas!! Rural areas (like mine) drill water wells.

With the past rainfalls we got in May and June, that ended our 5 year drought. The lakes where drastically low but are now over full and this had caused flooding down stream as the reservoirs have to send water down stream!! We have now gone over 35 days without a measurable rain fall and yes, our grasses are feeling it and turning brown!! I am now only watering the foundation plants.
