Last nights dream...

My dream was about my Aunty Fay coming to visit me after 50 years.
I saw this small, elderly lady walking up to my front door.
I opened the door and she said, "You must be Brett, I would recognise you anywhere."
"Yes, I am Brett, who might you be"
"I am your Aunty Fay"
"From Launceston"?
"Well I left there many years ago, but yes, I am that Aunty Fay"
"Wow, I have not seen you since that one time at Christmas when I was, what? nine or ten years old"?
"Yes, eight years old, 1970 we came to visit my sister, your Mother"
"I still remember you, even though I only saw you once"

The contents of the dream get a bit more personal when Aunty Fay starts talking about my Mother so I will not relate the contents here.

It just amazes me how dreams bring things up from so many years ago.

I absolutely agree. I often have a dream about my Daughter who is in her mid 40's.. but always, always in my dreams she's a little girl again.

..however talking about specifically things from the past, just last night I dreamt of an old boyfriend from 35 years ago. I rarely ever even think of that guy, and there's nothing around here or where I live which would remind me of him, nor did I ever hold a candle for him after our romance broke up.. so why on earth I would dream of him I don't know...plus.. in the dream there was a woman telling me that she had been seeing him at the same time as me, and I was asking her ''are you sure, when would he have the time ''? ..and she insisted it was true... ... I didn't know this woman either, so it was all very odd..

Dreams are weird for me as well. I don't remember most of them or they are just a jumbled mess. A couple nights ago I had a dream about being in some kind of a game show where I had to pick out different clothes to make an outfit to impress the judges. This just came out of nowhere. I have not seen any game show for ages. And I don't do dress-ups.

I love to unscramble my dreams and I'm pretty good at it. The dream usually doesn't make any sense but I will remember the day before seeing the tree in a movie and maybe the donut my hubby ate and the dog across the street. It all comes together in a silly way.

When I dream of my relatives who have passed away and wake up in the morning and realize they aren't here it does sadden me. It takes awhile to get in a better frame of mind.

I think this was more than a dream. I think she really came to visit you. This is so wonderful!
My late husband came to me in HUNDREDS of dreams after he died. The first one: I said, "You're alive?
I thought you died!" he said, "No I'm here! I'm alive!"
The same thing happened to my Mother after my Dad died. She was so mad at him because she already had the funeral and everything and he was still alive!
The deceased always come to visit we Earthlings!

I enjoy reading of interesting dreams. I do believe it is our subconscious chatting with us. @Gaer I have dreamt of my late hubby as well. A couple I remember is him coming to our house and wondering why I had moved to my current apartment. I told him it was because I wanted to move to a smaller place. He seemed OK with that.
Another, more disturbing (to me) dream was I was out somewhere with a friend, and Rick came over and told me that everything was ready, and I could come out whenever I was ready.

Wow! He made a home for you in Heaven to be with him! But stay here because we need you here! There is plenty of time!

I like to go with the science and the many studies done with hundreds of people that suggest the earliest memories that people can recall point back to when they were just two-and-a-half years old!

So, it is sensible to me Bretrick, that your aunt (who is well and truly dead) appeared to you in a dream because of a stored memory!

I do remember her one visit to my childhood home because it was Christmas and she gave me a great gift of a large size metal airplane which I loved.

have had a repeat dream... cross between horror and total logic. picture all the residents of a town/city... fleeing from some unknown monster. it must be big cuz it's shaking the ground and the terrified "villagers" are looking up to the sky behind them as they run. i'm not a terribly brave person but makes perfect sense to me that we (people) are so small in comparison that it would be really easy to duck in somewhere to hide. i kept trying to get others to just hide with me till whatever it was passed by... then come out and get the hell outta Dodge in the opposite direction. BUT no takers!?

It's weird. Now that I am retired and alone during the day I have these dreams of being in a group of people (usually business associates) in some communal atmosphere. Never a good dream.

"From Launceston?' Bretrick, that cracked me up. How many Aunty Fays do you have that you have to narrow it down to the one in Launceston?
Isn't amazing how talented we are when we dream. We can all come up with such vivid stories that would put Shakespeare to shame.
