Left hip going down the tubes

Back in 2008 I said good by to my right hip, and had it replaced. Now it seems the left one may be going as well. I would hazard a guess it is gone. Looks like I have to find me an ortho doc and have it looked at, and see about scheduling surgery. I am resigned to it, just not of a mind to be laid up over the holidays. But at least, where I live now is a better place to recover. I will have friends around, can get my walking practice done inside.

I just have to get the ball rolling.

@Aunt Bea I should get a PT for a few home visits, and could set up an aide if needed. But I know many of my neighbors will be checking in regularly, and supplying food. I plan to prepare some food for in the freezer that I can just re heat. Luckily, my apartment is not that big and I already have a walker. I should be set.

Sorry to hear that Marie, but you seem to be very capable of deciding what is best. If surgery will work for you, by all means go for it. I agree, your living environment is much better for you now to be recovering from such a surgery. Happy you have friends there, from all you told us, it's the ideal place to live. Sending you love my friend, and best outcome for whatever you decided, whether before or after the holidays.

That's the spirit. You know what you need to do and are planning ahead.
May your second hip replacement improve your mobility and activity options.

I need a second hip replacement too but I'm putting it off until the new year.

Good luck to you, Marie and keep us posted. I'm interested to hear, I think my right hip is going out, hope not but we'll see
From my own past experience, I would suggest consulting an orthopedic doctor. You may need a referral from your primary. In my original case, I had no cartilage left at the hip joint. Felt much better after surgery.
