Let’s talk about bread

When I was a kid, my older brother reached way in the loaf to get all the soft bread.
We had cocoa and toast every morning before school and he would turn the toaster
on extra high when I put my bread slice in the toaster. It always came out burnt.
So, I learned to love the taste of burnt toast! haha.

That's mean. But from my perspective, the way I was raised, you don't do stuff like that to your sister.

Wow, you are the only other person I've ever heard mention one of my all-time favorites, cocoa and toast. I still get a hankerin' for it sometimes. (y)

The crust - I never like them as a kid but I eat them now toasted with generous amounts of butter and jam (or honey). Sometimes it is used in my turkey dressing (when I have turkey).

The end always seems to toast or burn easier. Nowadays I’d never consider eating burnt toast. I remember my mother trying to scrape it so not to waste anything.

My then-boyfriend was "strict" with the outdoor cats. One day we came home with groceries, and the cats jumped into the vehicle, tore into the tops of the bread bags, and started eating the bread.

I ran into the house and got a few saved bread bags, ran out, and rescued most of each loaf. Each loaf was now slightly shorter than it had been. Whatever slices the cats had already mangled, I gave them to eat (around the corner somewhere).

I don't know where my bf was while all this was going on, but I'm sure he never knew about it.
