Let's talk about dreams again... a different take

So, I've taken Lexapro for years. It is an SSRI that increases serotonin in the brain. I take it along with lots of natural supplements. Some include supplements for calming the mind. I forgot to take them when the family was here because I was out of my usual routine. For 3 nights I had horrible nightmares that involved someone trying to kill me!

When I started taking Lexapro and supplements again the dreams went back to normal. The good news is that even when I stopped taking medication I had no depression or anxiety. The bad news is that I had terrible nightmares. I learn something new every day!

I woke up from one the other night that scared me so bad, I couldn't figure out if it was a dream or really happened. I had to wake up the Spousal Equivalent to reassure me.

Most of my dreams are strange, Cecil B. DeMille cast-of-thousands epics. I don't know why I can't dream about raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. No, I have to dream about acid rain on crops and alien cat-like critters. Sometimes, I do get to save the world, but I have to go through hell first.

My last weird dream (and I have a lot of them) was about a baby elephant I was riding through waterways. I remember being on his back, scooping up some water and holding it for him to slurp up with his trunk. It wasn't a pleasant dream as I was worried about my elephant for reasons that were clear at the time, but I can't recall now.

I have great dreams.

The ones that are most problematic (if you want to call it that) are environmental. So, long story short, the other night I had a dream that I was living among the poor in India. When I woke, the whole impression of the place stayed with me. It took a day to shake it.
