Life is short - Don't hold back.

Gardenlover

The world needs more love
My younger brother-in-law (59) just had a massive stroke. Hard to tell at this time where he'll end up - so very sad to say.

Do you tend to play it safe or do you truly life life?

A lot of reflection going on in my own life right now.

Prayers, meditations and positive thoughts for my buddy "Dave" are appreciated at this time.

I am so sorry to hear of this news, Gardenlover.

My husband is forever telling me to "think positive", and while that easier said than done all too often, I hope you can take comfort in the fact that you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

As for living our lives (dear husband and me), we just live from day to day, nothing extreme, nothing foolish. We're simple people and easy to please, but as with all things in this world, nothing is forever, so each day I awake I count my blessings that I am lucky enough to be here for another day.

Hugs to you.

I try not to waste any time. I have friends in their mid 80's & I never postpone or reschedule visits.

Yes, I will be glad to do that. In the meantime I hope and trust that you will take good care of yourself.

As for living life, I've learned to not take anything for granted anymore.
Hubby and I take each day as it comes and try to make the best of it.... appreciating more and more all the little things that we were often too busy to do and missed out on in earlier years.

Sorry to hear your news Gardenlover, thinking of you all and wishing your brother in law a good recovery

Me, I’m just happy to get through life one day at a time, never plan past tomorrow

Gardenlover: You have my thoughts and prayers too!
If you're in a moment of reflection, I'd like to tell you something I wrote, from my book, "Angels explain Death and Prayer". I know Dave didn't die but it may pertain, just the same. This is for you, Gardenlover!

When loved ones pass away, you tend to picture them as they were. You recall conversations of little importance you had with them.
A moment comes in the remembrance when you ask why couldn't you really connect with them? Why couldn't you take a long look at them, really touch their souls, or really speak to each other with your hearts?
To do this would have opened your sheltered heart to pain, to suffering, to feelings. Perhaps the thought of it would be too painful. so you skim the surface of those moments. It's easier not to make the connection, to speak of nonsensical Earthly things.
However, to enter the most sacred, quiet chamber of the soul and share this with another, to speak soul to soul and really listen while the other soul answers, and to really FEEL what the other's heart is feeling takes more courage than most humans can employ.

I'm sorry to hear about your brother-in-law. I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

I highly recommend the book My Stroke of Insight written by a neurologist about her experience of having a stroke and then recovering from it. It's got some great suggestions for the people close to a stroke victim about how to best help them in their recovery.
