You know when we get to our ages, we've kinda seen it or owned it, or tried it...been there done that and often for many years before suddenly we 'fall out of love'' with stuff we've been happily doing for th better part of our lives...

I find more and more at this stage in my life I'm falling OUT of love with things......and maybe a little in love with things I never thought I would ever like...

So how about a list of what you've fallen OUT of love with.....and to even it up...those that you've fallen IN love with.. feel free to make your own list and come back and add any as you think of them

I'll start...

OUT!!

Early mornings and commuting to work in all weathers at 6.30am..

Tights

Skirts

Buying newspapers..I rather just read the news online..it's free, and I can't be bothered with all the hassle of ink on my fingers and clothes..

High heeled shoes..( I love high heeled shoes and have loads, but I can only wear them car to bar now or for about 1/2 an hour max )

Ironing ( I'm buying more and more clothing that doesn't need ironing and o/h's shirts all go to the dry cleaners now)

Shopping Malls... I used to love shopping, but I've just kinda got "meh' about them now... I really can't be bothered with all the crowds and the horrible music

IN

Taking time to do household chores now I've retired..one or 2 things a day instead of the mad rush at weekends to get the whole house done

My adored grandfurbabies...not that they were ever out tbh...

More days out in the UK than Abroad...

Tinted moisturiser instead of foundation on evenings out...and no make-up at all during the day except for lipstick...

What's your OUTS and INS ?

Cooking is out and has been since my husband died. Fresh salads and microwaveable is in.

Make up is also out unless I have a drs appt. Just lipstick is in but only when going to the store.

washing my hair every day is out...I can go 2-3 days since I always wear it up.

OUT

Going to bed at a decent hour and being woken by the alarm clock

Wearing suits (they've all gone to the charity shop)

Shopping in my lunch break

IN

Reading or watching telly until the early hours

Breakfast in bed when its cold, wet and miserable outside

Relaxed coffee or lunch with friends every day

Ties. I will never, ever, as long as I live, ever wear one of those stupid useless choking phallic symbols around my neck again.

Weddings, funerals, special dress up events I will wear my one black suit with a dress shirt open at the collar. I might even just wear the jacket with jeans. That's fashionable now anyway. Not that I give a flying rats ass about being fashionable.

And no more wingtip shoes either. For dressy occasions, which I avoid like the plague anyway, I'll wear my better pair of black New Balance walking shoes.

I'm old, retired and a grouch. I dress for comfort.

Out would be making elaborate desserts. No only are they not healthy but the hubby would rather have a piece of pain crumb cake or a few cookies. I have to eat gluten free so I kind of stick to ice cream. My chicken collection is out. I had hundreds of chicken figurines and related items. I sold all but a few that were really meaningful to me. When we first got married we had a very western look to our home. Got rid of the saddle lamp, Indian blankets, Western looking furniture etc. Large shrubs around the outside of the house that require a lot of trimming. In would be spending time with the Grandkids,my coloring books, pouring over my old photos, getting rid of doubles and framing some. Mastering my new sewing machine and always puttering around the house cleaning, painting rearranging and gardening.

OUT!!

Shopping Malls... I used to love shopping, but I've just kinda got "meh' about them now... I really can't be bothered with all the crowds and the horrible music

The music.....YES! I've left two stores because of the music. One was Michaels at Christmas time. They were playing this terrible loud rap-style holiday music that grated on me like a piece of sandpaper. I looked around and the majority of shoppers were middle-aged women; not the type of customer that like that kind of music. I spoke to the manager about it and she said they didn't get to pick their music. So I exercised my choice to pick where I shop and went over to Hobby Lobby, where they were playing nice soft holiday music.

Another one was a clothing store (can't remember which one) that was playing very annoying loud grating music in the dressing rooms. By the time I had tried on the second of eight items I had, I was twitching (definitely NOT twerking...lol) I just took everything out, dumped it on the rack and spoke to the manager on the way out. Same story....sorry, we don't pick the music. And once again, this wasn't some young hip store where the customers might like this kind of music.....it was a place that older ladies frequent.

Don't these people know that the right kind of music encourages people to slow down and look around more? And the wrong kind of music drives them away. Didn't they teach them in training to match their background music to the clientele?

OK, off the soapbox.
