To each their own, but I've always kept mine short for practical reasons..
I've wondered: for the ladies who have longer nails, HOW do you use keyboards, cellphones, etc.??
If I haven't kept mine trimmed all the way down, I have difficulty even turning the thermostat switch off and on!!

I go short also. Easier for me to manage things. Years back I went through a time ( two years) of wearing acrylic nails. Never again.

None of them. They all need to be clipped shorter. And lose the polish.

Well, not for me personally, but you get the idea.

#14 would be great for a swimmer! #14 would probably be banned in competitive Olympic swimming.

#1 is classic, isn't it? That's my mom's nails, and my gramma's and auntie's. And my wife has hers done like that, too...slightly shorter, I think, because of her job.

Anyway, I like #1 best.

When I played violin and later trying to learn guitar I had to clip them very short. I now keep mine maybe 1/2 inch from the
tip as so many things like condiment, toothpaste and medications, etc has those flip lids on them. A bit of nail helps to open those.

#1 for me also. I don’t like the new fashion for nails these days. They look like cats claws all sharp and pointy looking. My natural nails are long but natural. I no longer wear nail polish. My nails look more like #13 but without the polish.

As a guy, I tend to let me grow a bit, #1 for the most part. Sometimes #13 for my pinky, and when my grandkids asked me why...... for cleaning my ears
