Lighting in our Microwave Oven

I put in a cup of luke warm coffee, like I have done 100's of times, pressed start and there was a complete lighting storm that immediately filled the inside. ( I shut it off instantly ) It freaked me out. This cup had no metal. I can't figure out what happened.? If it happens again...I think it is time for a new one.?
This ever happen to you?

I just found some things I am going to try to stop it from happening again.

The mica sheet is dirty​

The internal cavity and seal are damaged​

The door and its grid are damaged​

The roller ring has stains on it​

Your Microwave Is Sparking Inside or Outside

No, never heard of that happening. I don't like microwaves so I don't have one. But if I was you I would replace it.

It sounds like your magnetron waveguide plate/cover is bad. These can be easily replaced for just a few dollars. Search your make and model number on sites like RepairClinic.com, and AppliancePartsPros. com.
