Literal thin skin

Grampa Don

Yep, that's me
One of the things I hate about getting old is how thin the skin on my arms has become. The slightest bump can peel it back. And, it doesn't have to be anything sharp, the corner of a cupboard door or shelf, or even a door jam will do. Being clumsy doesn't help either. It seems I always have a Bandaid on one arm or the other.

I remember toward the end of my mother's life there was a physical therapist type person coming to the house and when he had to grab her arm (not sure why probably trying to keep her from falling or something), a whole patch of skin was torn and just flapping. It was really horrifying.

Same here. I'm kind of skinny, and my arms don't have any "cushion" under the skin. Plus, as colder weather arrives, my skin gets dry quickly. I have been putting hand lotion on my forearms for quite some time, and that seems to help.

A few weeks ago, there was a similar discussion here, and a couple of the posters said they were using a lotion brand called Eucerin. I bought some of that a couple days later, and have been using it. So far, that is helping quite a bit....you might give it a try.
