There were government lists of people, especially if you signed petitions.I could if I had to. I miss true privacy.
Isn't that where you spend a small fortune to live like a homeless person?I suppose we could go back to living with less technology, but who would want to? Tent camping is fun, but only because it's temporary...
You mean you slept outside/outdoors.. intentionally??There are many people in this era that spend nearly their whole lives in urban areas where modern appliances, tools, gadgets, and communication devices dominate. There are others like this person that have always enjoyed also getting out into natural areas either just for a few hours or sometimes days where little to none of those things are around. For many that may be a camping experience while they are more or less tethered to their vehicle. Better is hiking about on some public lands trail where even Internet connections may not be possible due to landscape blockage. Best are those of us that backpack for days into wilderness, carrying everything on our backs including food. Note I am one that more often than not is not carrying my smartphone around, even when driving around in my urban area and shopping.

I did a great deal of horseback camping, often for a week at a time. I am queen of campfire cooking.I used to love camping back then. Except in the rain with a wet, smelly Irish Setter who growled at every noise. Otherwise it was great fun, especially in Maine.
I wouldn't miss a phone, but I would miss my laptop for entertainment after being outside all day.
