Living near film locations.

At the time I lived 3/10 of a mile from the lakeside bar in Winter Haven, Florida, where this scene from the movie "China Moon" was filmed. One of my co-workers was an extra in this scene. They told her to just sit at the table and act like you are having a good time. I think she said she was paid $22 for the day.

New Forest as a filming location is famed for its untouched woodland and far-reaching heathland. Alongside this is settings of vast coastline, historic buildings, flowing rivers, picturesque roads, old world pubs, industrial sites, bygone villages, free-roaming animals and so much more.
One of the New Forest's most recent appearances was in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation with Tom Cruise. Others include, Solo: A Star Wars Story, The Crown, Great Expectations, Unforgotten, The Famous Five and The Brittas Empire.

Location doubles in the New Forest offers many opportunities for productions looking to source a UK based alternative to shooting overseas. Beaulieu River doubled as Miami back in 2016 when the film The Infiltrator was released. Staring Bryan Cranston as Robert Mazur a U.S. Customs official who uncovers a money laundering scheme involving Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar.
Check out Film: New Forest.

Atlanta has become quite the movie making spot. The first one I recall was Driving Miss Daisy (1989) which featured a lot of local streets and scenes. In 2015 Tyler Perry turned the 330 acre former Fort McPherson into his studios. It is a major film production company.

My town,Cwmbran, featured heavily in the recent Channel4 series Generation Z.
My estate was in it…although I somehow managed to miss all the filming.
Post some pictures of your estate. I love to look at home pictures.
This is in the corner of my estate
And in another corner
At the end of my street
in use since 1632

and just across from the mill a similar vintage manor house

Must have been nice here before they built my estate in the 1950s!
My videos but not my pictures!

Another movie that was filmed across the street from my office building. Can't remember the name but it had Dennis Quaid in it. It was interesting to look across the street and see how the "extras" operated. It was a city street scene and people were walking down the sidewalk in both directions. After watching for a few minutes, I could tell it was the same 4-5 people every time.

A woman in a red jacket and hat would walk down the sidewalk by herself and when she'd reach the end, she'd take off the red jacket and put on a long black coat and a blonde wig. Then she and a guy in a grey jacket would walk down the sidewalk in the opposite direction.

At that end, the guy would switch his grey jacket for a white t-shirt, shorts and and a ballcap and jog down the sidewalk, followed by the original woman, now in a pants suit and a straw hat walking with a man in a business suit.

The same crowd will switch out and go back and forth.

It worked. I mean, who pays any attention to the crowd scene on the sidewalk? Why hire more than a few extras when you can work the heck out of a few?

I know a few Hallmark movies have been done in the area. They’ve asked for extras dressed in winter clothing. That one was in the heat of summer when it was over 90˚. Lots of people showed up. Even though it would be interesting to see the area on film, the price to be paid by watching a Hallmark show is too high.

Right now as I'm typing this Joanna lumley... and a well known leading actor from one of our soaps.. and an American actor, are filming in my town on location.......they're filming a new comedy show...

can't say who they are because then you'd know where I live ... :D

There have been a few. The most significant for me is the opening scene in Psycho. That scene was shot a couple of years before I was born but whenever I watch the movie that scene does remind me of a time when Phoenix was just a quiet small town.

Sunlight Jr. was filmed in my home town of Clearwater Florida. I did not live there at the time it was made but it is where I was born and spent the first 20 years of my life and it had a very familiar feeling for me.

"Beneath the 12 mile Reef" was filmed in Tarpon Springs Florida which is about 15 miles north of Clearwater where I lived at the time.

I remember going to see it in the theatre when it came out. We thought it was pretty cool to see a movie that had been filmed at a place we were familiar with. My dad used to taake us out to eat there at Pappas Restaurant. You could buy natural sponges at the docks for 5 cents back then.

This is a picture of me standing next to one of the sponge boats. I was about 7 I think. Hard to believe that was 70 years ago!

The chronicles of Narnia, the lion the witch and the wardrobe were filmed in my locale in NZ.
The scenery made me homesick. My cousin's house was featured in the film it was a magnificent three storey triple brick mansion which was sadly destroyed in the 2010 earthquake.

I think you need to understand that in the UK an "estate" is what Americans would call a 'subdivision". A housing estate isn't a private mansion, at all. As Churchill said.... " The British and the Americans are a common people, divided by a common language ". JIM.
true... but also a Private estate is where someone owns a large house and properties on lots of land...

so housing estate is the same as a subdivision.. private estate is a Big manor type house usually.. with lots of land...

here are some pics of where I live...

Pictures I've mainly taken in summer and autumn... I live in a semi rural area.. surrounded by farms, country lanes, cottages , woodland, and rivers..

I’m now getting a thought that someone thinks I’m a Lord of the Manor😀.
There was another, long gone Manor House, just up the road too!

Remember seeing the film crew for the orginal 'Hawaii Five-0' all around Oahu when I was in High School.
Family would watch to see if we could recognize where they were, kind of a game we played.
Visited my dad at his work at Pearl Harbor when they were filming 'Tora!Tora!Tora! in 1968/9.

Sure there were other films shot there, always a film crew doing something around that time.

Yes, many movies made in this area and one with Sally Field and Burt Reynolds. Other ones with name stars. Another town I lived in had many Clint Eastwood movies and friends were extras in them.

Roadhouse w/Patrick Swayze was filmed up in our foothills and one other one was shot in our downtown area.
There may be more, but that's the only ones I know about. And, those were both so long ago.
A bunch of Roadhouse (both) were film around here. The opening country road scene showing the Kellermans sign is a 1/4 mile away. They shut down Hwy 74 for the hwy scenes for both movies, I met Patrick when he visited the ER after spraining his knee during the log scene,( filmed in Columbus) had no clue who he was. Seen the black Chevy several times at the gas station and they asked about using our car ,63 Dodge Dart Convertible, but then turned it down. Also watched from afar when they filmed the lake scene...
My brother was an EMT/rescue tech when they filmed Last of the Mohicans in Chimney Rock about 5 miles from here.
Firestarter was also filmed in Lake Lure.
Asheville area has hosted several films... My Fellow Americans, great film, And our daughters college roommate worked on the original Hunger Games.

Apparently, after doing some google research, the movie was filmed in a few diff locations.
That's pretty cool that they considered using one of your vehicles for the movie..
