I'd think so.. an ok price in general for what's included, plus it's a fundraiser.Does the price seem reasonable to you? I was wondering about a half and ear of corn - like people couldn't eat a whole one.

The local fire department. I am also flummoxed why they need a fundraiser when they are supported by local taxes. They used to stand out in the streets with coffee cans and stop cars to ask for donations. It's a fund raiser, but for what?
I don't know about your location or these days, but when I was still in NY the fire department (& ambulance that was with them) were all 24/7 on-call volunteers.. that's why locals held fundraisers every year to show appreciation. The local fire department. Maybe they need a new truck or something. Maybe the fire house needs repair, new furniture, or an updated kitchen. The local fire department. I'm sure every location is different... but we have tons of these around my area every weekend. For a half chicken, mac salad, baked beans, and sometimes a roll, it's usually $12. Just a couple of years ago before raging inflation, it was $8. Once in a while a group will throw in a drink and sometimes even dessert for a dollar or two more.Does the price seem reasonable to you? There are still volunteer fire departments, but regular fire-fighters get paid.I don't know about your location or these days, but when I was still in NY the fire department (& ambulance that was with them) were all 24/7 on-call volunteers.. that's why locals held fundraisers every year to show appreciation.
Plus, the flyer says Chicken BBQ, meaning they've probably rented a huge barbecue, purchased a ton of coal and/or wood, and possibly hired a cook or two.My old small town church charges $7.00 for half a chicken or $13.00 for a dinner.
Much of the food is prepared by the church members, donated, or purchased at cost.
A fundraiser is about raising funds and not about a good value for a meal.
Buy a dinner and toss a twenty in the pot for good measure.
Good point.Plus, the flyer says Chicken BBQ, meaning they've probably rented a huge barbecue, purchased a ton of coal and/or wood, and possibly hired a cook or two.
It's being prepared by a local eatery.Plus, the flyer says Chicken BBQ, meaning they've probably rented a huge barbecue, purchased a ton of coal and/or wood, and possibly hired a cook or two.
They have to purchase all the food, but I hope they're donating the labor and delivery and whatever else. I'm sure they can write it off, so they probably will. It's being prepared by a local eatery.
