For those that get Free Shipping or Delivery from a local store, do you tip the driver?

It’s not expected for Amazon, etc when it comes from out of town.

I’ve heard others give a large tip from local deliveries. That would seem to offset the money saved.
 

I get deliveries from Amazon but never tip. How could I? The guy just drops it by the door and takes off without even knocking. There are no other deliveries for this guy! No pizzas, no groceries, no nothing; so no worries about tipping.

No...in fact our supermarket delivery drivers say that they're not permitted to accept Tips..

If I do a store pickup order, no tipping is allowed.

Locally, people seem to do it for home deliveries. The amounts given for hot food (pizza, meals, etc) are quite extravagant. If people add the tip on ahead of time and the agent doing the delivery doesn’t consider it enough, the delivery time may be really slow.

That shouldn't be allowed. Tips are meant to be something extra, by choice, for good service.. not an obligation.

A long time ago- before some strike they had- I read Instacart drivers were actually refusing to pick up orders if they thought the tips (shown in advance) were too small..

that's the only tip I give.. and that's to a take-away delivery person.. because they might spit in your food next time... :ROFLMAO:
