I did not have to do that, but I am in Utah, Google probably knows that, and there is a Corner of Walk and Don't Walk here. Never heard of Stockton, Utah before. Appears to be a small town in the middle of no where, not to far from where the US once tested and stored nerve gas, not sure what that means...This is what I get.

Generally, the default map for your area will pop up when clicking on "Corner of Walk 'n Don't Walk".
Maybe you have never entered your address in google maps OR all your cookies are cleared each time you close google maps. Dunno
Oh, and maybe you don't have a "use location data" checked in your browser or something.
