Hello, everyone. I have been looking for a senior community group for some time and finally discovered this one. I have become quite lonely due to my husband working 12 hour shifts and being gone most of the time. I cannot wait for him to retire and we can move closer to my family.

Hi Pamela... you and I are in the same boat with regard husbands' who work long hours.. it's like living alone isn't it ?

Where abouts in the world are you situated ?

I live in what they refer to as, the Rio Grande Valley (southern part of Texas). I am originally from Uvalde, Texas and have lived in the valley since '98 when my husband was hired by a new hospital. He is finally getting close to retiring.

Welcome to the group. My husband worked 12 hour shift work for 25 years. Half the shifts were days and half of them were nights. Now he’s on regular 8 hour days and I miss those 12 hour shifts. 😂

All joking aside, its nice of you to join us

I understand. My hubby is 5 years younger than me and wants to continue to work. Not only does he work long hours but he likes working in the middle of the night which makes our whole schedule wacky. I have to have dinner for him by 3 PM (yuck) so he can be in bed by 5:30 in order to be up by midnight to get ready for work. It is just terrible and leads to a lot of lonliness. I have developed many interests and some friends exclusive to me. Not the best solution but otherwise I would spend all my time alone except for my dogs.
Try visiting a senior center if you have one in your community. It's been good for me.

Welcome Pamela! ... from Houston. .. Have been to the Valley on occasion over the years, but just passing thru.
Do you plan to leave the area after your husband's retirement?

Welcome, Pamela! :)
I hope you will enjoy interacting with us, as we all keep each other company, when anyone takes a turn needing some.
Are there pretty nature places near you? Or do you prefer indoors interests?

Thank you very much. :)

We are suppose to stay put for now, the coronavirus cases are climbing in Texas.
