Lonely

Welcome Pamela! ... from Houston. .. Have been to the Valley on occasion over the years, but just passing thru.
Do you plan to leave the area after your husband's retirement?
Good question! He loves the valley; I don't but have stuck here with him for over 20 years. I have tried to convince him to move closer to my hometown of Uvalde, Texas (Birthplace of Matthew McConaughey!). We are still debating over a move. We will see.

I could not live in such a big city as Houston!!! Even San Antonio has changed so much since the days that I enjoyed going to while living in Uvalde, Texas. I am hoping we leave the valley.

Yes, Uvalde is more civilized ...lol .. best wishes in whatever you decide.
Homegrown Matthew McConaughey has been spotted on some of the local fishing docks .... my SIL ran into him near Angleton one afternoon.

Oh, there is nothing wrong with living in the valley; it is just too far from my hometown and family. Matthew has paid visits to his hometown and was recently honored by the public library in Uvalde; his mother and brother Mike were present too. He does not shy away from visiting Uvalde. He will go and see the home where he was raised too. He is very down to earth.

The strangest part is that when I graduated from high school, a young man who was originally from Uvalde and moved with the family to the valley as a child came to visit me the summer of 1972. See, his mother and my maternal grandmother had wanted us to date and eventually get married. I dated him that summer and detested his 'valley' style. I was quite shy and picky. I finally told him that I was to go to college in the fall and had no time for dating and/or a relationship. I broke his heart. And I did not like the way he described the valley. Needless to say, I ended up there. Ironic, isn't it?!?
