Long Movies and the Need for Intermissions

Long movies should have intermissions, like Broadway shows. I simply do not go see long movies in theaters. I have to go to the bathroom too often and why pay to miss something. There are very few movies I'm interested in seeing as soon as they are released anyway. I'll wait patiently until they hit a streaming service. The longest one I saw in the theater, because I could hardly wait, was Aquaman, two hours and 35 mins. That timing was almost a deterrent, but it didn't seem that long and I managed to get through it without a bathroom break.

From 1950 - 1970, there were 86 movies that had 'Intermissions, with Overtures'.
Most were the big epics like Ben Hur, The Ten Commandments, Oklahoma, etc.

I personally like the Overtures and miss them the most in movies.

The Multiplex theatre we see most of our movies, has a nice Bar so an intermission would
be a nice touch.

A Bar ????? We can't last through a movie today without swilling down the booze ? Guess I'm further out of date than I thought. This is the first time I've ever heard of it.

Her name is Lily Gladstone. I’ve heard/read several great reviews about her acting. I’ll have to live without seeing it; no way I’ll sit through 3.5 hours until it comes on streaming in a few years.
