Season 5 dropped Friday on Netflix, really, really good. Just spent a good part of Friday and today watching the entire season. Now I'm hangin' my head in shame that I wasted so much time doing nothing but watching tv. :chargrined:

Oh, but Longmire is such a good show. The hubby and I have been borrowing the series from the library and binge watching. With all the garbage on TV,Longmire is well worth the time you invested.

Ah, we did that last year and learned our lesson! This year we watched the last episode of season 4 on Friday and first two episodes of season 5 on Sat night. I am hoping we can draw it out - maybe 2 episodes a week - but there are only 10 for the season.

Love this show!!

Because of this thread, I just started watching Longmire on Netflix. It's very engaging and I'm enjoying time with such a handsome sheriff. :star:

For those newbies to the series - a friend of mine has ties to the US Native American community. I asked her about the portrayal of the "Indians" in this series and she assures me that what we see is pretty accurate. This show has been educational for us.

If anyone has a curious interest in the Native American culture - try reading "10,000 White Women." It is a novel - set in historical US 1800's (I think) - a "What if?" type of story. Even though it is a novel, it gave me an new appreciation for the Native culture.

I'm going to get that book. I love to read about Native American Indian culture.

I watched a couple of episodes mainly because I thought it might be similar to the Jesse Stone series (Tom Selleck) which was no longer available on streaming. Since there is so much on my T.V. plate already, I give a show 2 episodes to "grab" me; if it hasn't by then, I move on. Longmire just didn't hold my interest but I know other social networking friends who love it too.

Is the author of the book Jim Fergus? I just added it to my Amazon cart. Seems like the right book.

Yes! I got the title wrong - it is actually "1000 White Women." Not sure why I had 10,000 in my head. I hope you enjoy it. Let us know what you think. I ordered it at Books-a-Million, for a friend of mine and when I gave the title to the young black male at the Customer Service desk, he looked at me quizzically and said, "What?" I explained the premise and when we were done, he told me he was going to order it too - it intrigued him!
