"Look Books" for VERY Bald Guys

Hello. Glad to have found this thread, and hope you're all well.

I have an odd question: I became a Norwood 7 bald guy (no hair on top, just a band around the sides; sometimes called "power donut" or "horseshoe") at age 42. While I could (somewhat) accept baldness at the time, it's now over 20 years later, and I'm seriously depressed about my looks. :( (Currently what's left is dark brown and slightly layered, ending about an inch above where my spine begins. So far, only my neatly trimmed beard is gray/white.)

The issue is that I can't justify a transplant or hair system, as (a) it won't advance my job prospects, since I'm only a few years from retirement, and (b) I'm not dating, as my multi-decade marriage is still wonderful, plus my wife is fine with my hair the way it is. (Note to self: Schedule her an eye exam STAT.)

So now I'm wondering if anything interesting or distinctive can be done with the hair I have left - not just a new cut, but maybe also new single color, highlights, partial perm for texture and/or body, etc.? The trouble is:

(1) I know excessively long hair looks awful on Norwood 7's, and adding too much side volume would make me Bozo the Clone ...

(2) ... but neither do I want to shave it all off, buzzcut it, grow a huge beard to deflect attention from it, or wear a hat. (These are the only options I've seen online. Even if they're considered "hip," if I don't like them, they'll work against me.)

(3) Every single men's "look book" I've ever seen (both paper and online) only shows full heads of hair, even in the "Seniors" section.

Does anyone know of any look books, websites, or other sources of example pictures of what I've described? Sorry if I'm being shallow and vain (and if my dad were alive, he'd catch the next plane here to slap me across the face for it), but I'm desperate for one last chance to upgrade and enjoy my appearance (even if only a little) before I sink into the slough of decrepitude. (No offense or stereotype meant, but I don't see myself aging well. 😢 )

Thanks -- Olden Dazed

I don’t know if you look at Reddit but by some strange chance I happened to see Reddit has a forum for Bald Men Before and After. You might get some ideas there.
just skimming it briefly, I have to say most of the men looked better bald.
