Looking for a creative way to pay a bill for ten cents….

I cancelled my long distance carrier 2 months ago. Last month I got a bill for 5 cents. I think it stems from the fact they carry you for 30 days or something. Probably one of us picked up the phone and attempted to make a call without using the calling card. I just find it funny that they would spend more money billing me for the 5 cents than what they will get. I really just forgot about it but now it’s 10 cent…LOL

So now I’m going to spend 24 cents on writing a check and a 49 cent stamp to pay it..I don’t mind paying the bill, just need a creative way to do it. I guess now it’s 50 cents for a stamp.

Any good ideas?

Mail them 10 pennies.

I like this except would the weight of the pennies be more postage?

I thought for phone you always paid 30 days in advance. I would not pay the bill. See how many more letters you receive demanding the $.05.

They can not ding your credit for that amount.

Creative way ? I agree with Manatee. Practical way ? C'est Moi probably has the best idea. If you have a Paypal account that would probably be the easiest way to deal with it though. My evil way of dealing with it? Get a copy of the bill and post the copy of the bill to your former carrier on Twitter and ask them if they accept pennies for payment.

Pay them 11 cents...then, wait a couple of weeks, and demand they refund you the extra penny....that would probably cost them hundreds in administrative expenses.

The same thing happened to us a few years back. I don't remember the circumstances but our local bank said we owed 5 cents. The hubby went to the bank, asked for the manager and politely gave him 5 pennies and asked for a receipt. I think AZ Jim or Don M. have the answer.

that happened to me only it was 2 cents---i called them and asked if they wanted cash or a check--they said that they would waive it

I would go ahead and write a check and mail it in. This is not something I would want to take any more space in my head that it needs to, and not to mention the time and effort.

That's the way I think about it but you know, some times you just want to wake the bean counters up.....:D

Had you been paying your long-distance carrier by check? If you had you can probably just call them up and pay over the phone using your checking account number. That way no wasted check and no wasted stamp. When I was traveling I would sometimes come home and just was almost late for my phone bill and I called them up and paid by phone.

I don't think that any real live person there even knew that they sent you a 10 cent invoice.
