Looking for a feel-good tv show

From the MST3K guys, RiffTrax continues the hilarity.

They post a lot on YouTube and PlutoTV has a channel dedicated to it. They also sell downloads and I believe DVDs.

This is a good one, and here it is in full:

Here they took a really crappy movie and made it into a party. They also do a few "shorts" here, and those are some of their funniest work.

Kind of a cult hit, they often do live audience shows now.

I also like some of the PBS series. I'm enjoying All Creatures Great and Small. Have also binge-watched Downton Abbey twice and watched it on-air when it was first shown.

But I don't like everything British on PBS. It really depends on the subject matter and characters.

I still watch SNL, but I would not call that "feel good" TV most weeks. More like "Let's try to laugh at terrible reality for a bit."

Love "Northern Exposure"...we are watching at least a couple episodes every day and
"Barney Miller"...watch it every night!

Another CBC show. Corner Gas. It’s quite old now.
I watched the first episode of Corner Gas. Wow, the sarcasm. The sarcasm is actually part of the show. Very deadpan humor. Maybe something like Northern Exposure a bit.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of The Rookie. Love it so far. Rare that I love a show from the first few minutes. The last show I loved from the start was The Good Doctor. I hope The Rookie doesn't disappoint. Good start so far.
It has kept me interested throughout the seasons. Even though I didn't list Nathan Fillion as one of my favorite actors, I really enjoyed him in that show and Castle. May I suggest Will Trent (Hulu) if you haven't already watched. I love that show so much that I watched S1 three times! 🤩

Thanks for the recommendation. On your suggestion, I watched the first 4 episodes. It has the same flavor as Monk or Elementary in that the main character is seen as different and treated poorly because of it. But their genius and moral character shines through. It's a little darker than The Rookie. It's always good to find a new show, so I might flip between the two.

I'm glad you liked it enough to check out four episodes already! One thing I love about Will is his heart, his empathy which isn't obvious at first. I also love how the officers and detectives he has to interact with come to really respect him and the ultimate bonding with his partner Faith. Wait until you see the S1 finale! Just Wow!

I watched my least favorite episode of the Rookie, so far. It's the latest episode of the new season. It was filmed differently and that was a part of the reason. Won't stop me from watching the show though. Now I'm waiting for The Rookie Feds to come back on.

@OneEyedDiva I'm enjoying Will Trent. I do like the character. It's a heavy topic that runs through the whole series, foster care. I knew someone well who grew up in foster care. Like all of the characters, he carried his scars with him, many of them unseen. It brought back a lot of memories.

I'm still trying to process all the reveals in the finale and how they'll play out. I'm curious to see how all that new information will play out in season 2. I do like how they brought a lot of things together and weaved a lot of the storylines into a cohesive whole.

Thanks for the recommendation. It was great to be able to talk about the show with you.

I just starting watching Northern Exposure on Amazon. It was not available on any streaming platform before because of a fight over the music royalties. In fact , the DVD's that were released did not include the same songs that were played when the show first aired. If you never watched the show and do have Prime then I would suggest that. And if you did watch it when it first aired, I would suggest you watch it again. It is quirky but very warm hearted.

Shows that I never watched when they were on years ago, like Monk and Northern Exposure, so I decided to watch them now. Seriously??? I couldn't watch them any longer then their first episodes. Same with Resident Alien (is that the name???...I'm trying to forget that one).

@OneEyedDiva I'm enjoying Will Trent.
I'm all caught up with Will Trent. Season 2 Episode 3 is the newest so far.

I wanted to see what other people are saying about it. I'm always curious about what other people think about the show I'm watching. I found this subReddit on Will Trent. Mostly younger people there. They have opinions on Will and Angie or just Angie herself.

I'm back to watching The Rookie. Still on season 1.

Exactly. I just never bought in to the whole concept of the show, I gather.
I see your point. The autistic people I've met couldn't be articulate when it counted like in a job interview and yet unable to express themselves at the most dramatic times. I also think that the actor overplayed it sometimes. But like most shows, if you can suspend disbelief for a time, it's a fun show. I root for the underdog. This show had that.

I'm currently rewatching (via Hulu) Moonlighting with Sybil Sheppard and Bruce Willis. I started on a whim, found out I don't remember any of the episodes since the show first aired 39 years ago! That's wild when I think about it. I am enjoying it way more than I expected to. I guess the show was the catalyst for me really liking Bruce Willis, who is one of my favorite actors. Bruce Willis' character David Addison is brash, annoying and lovable at the same time. Moonlighting is a campy, silly detective show with crazy cases and sometimes the writing isn't that good, but it is fun to watch.

I watch old tv shows also. They make me feel so good. For example, yesterday I watched several episodes of Golden Girls. I laughed so much and sometimes I was laughing until I cried. I enjoy those old shows.
Could you even imagine that laughing can be dangerous to your health? I've made this experience.

I tried to watch that movie. It definitely made it on my one of the worst movies list.
