looking for non fiction audiobook download site maybe podcasts

to listen to while on my walks etc.....any favorite recommendations.....I am finding limited success with my libraries .seems to me the tin foil hat kids maybe be right- some of our important infromational books are being scrubbed out of reach ..that doesnt surprise me too much- given current enviroment- thank you all

You can find audiobooks posted as videos on YouTube. You just need to download them and extract the audio, or download the audio using web-based YouTube downloaders.

Without knowing exactly what you're looking for, that's all the help I can provide.

I have Spotify Premium (no ads). They have many different podcasts; some are excellent. You can do a search for whatever topic you're interested in.

I didn't like the Audible model, which allowed one book per month. I thought it was too expensive.

With Audiobooks, I could listen to a single book for not much money, with no monthly commitment. That suited me better.

There are several websites and services that offer free audiobooks:
  1. Project Gutenberg - a digital library that has over 60,000 free eBooks, including audiobooks.
  2. Librivox - a volunteer-run website that offers free audiobooks from the public domain.
  3. Audible - offers a limited selection of free audiobooks as part of its Audible Originals program.
  4. Spotify - provides a small collection of audiobooks, which can be listened to for free with ads.
  5. Google Play Books - offers a limited selection of free audiobooks that can be streamed online.
  6. YouTube - you can find audiobooks uploaded by users, but the quality and availability may vary.

I get audiobooks all the time from YouTube. Sometimes they're fairly new releases, too!

I recently discovered Amazon Polly, which is a text to voice application. I've tried a few of them in the past, but the voices were too stilted to use. Polly uses AI to create realistic sounding speech, and you have your choice of eight different voices. They don't charge a subscription but they do charge per word. Other text to voice systems charge a monthly subscription.

Here's a link where you can try it for free...

I got a warning from my anti-virus software about findaudiobook.com.

it is probably that there is an old security certificate. a lot of antivirus software wants an up to date certificate. there are a lot of these sites that do not keep up on them

One would think that if they went through all the trouble to create a website, they'd keep their security certificates up to date.

well ben do you have a web site? do you have dozens of clients downloading files, do you keep your search engine free of malware, are your cookies current. it takes a lot of work to run a large website. if you are so skittish about web surfing you need antivirus software maybe you should stay home? I have run computers for years and never had antivirus software nor had any problems with virus.

and don't yall come back on me for my rudeness. I dont post things I have problems with, everything works for me or I would not put it here. and I dont have any special software that skirts around any problems nothing magical about what I use, plain jane windows 7 and old firefox browser.

thank you very much...odd, in my research I did not come across that-- lots of bs stuff on the net...again thank you

What sort of device do you use to listen? Podcasts can be had in any number of places.
Your local library probably has a program that would allow you to borrow audiobooks.
Many do these days in the US they do, anyway. Depending on what you use to listen,
you might be able to get software to "read" the book to you as you walk but the voices
that I've heard weren't ones I'd enjoy long term. Streaming podcasts or downloading to
a phone is a simple process though.

@boliverchadsworth: you can also get podcasts,if you scroll down to the search bar and type in the name of a podcast such as this alien scifi one. 'out of the shadows' by tim lebbon.. you can also key in authors names and get their books.
