Losing interest in professional sports.

I played and was involved in many different sports over my lifetime but have never enjoyed watching pro or college sports. I loved to play sports and loved all my kids different sports so guess I need a vested interest to enjoy the game.

My boy wrestled (real wrestling) for years. Now he’s an assistant coach for his old high school. I asked him if he still “had it” and he said he pinned 5 varsity wrestlers in a row. Lol. He did say how fast fast those kids are compared to him. Evidently we start slowing down right away but don’t realize it. Lol.

I view a fraction of the games I used but am more interested in the strategies, back stories, analysis etc like sports radio, sports columns.

One of the final straws for me was the baseball players strike in the early 1990s followed by the steroid scandal. Actually think it was 1988 or 92 Olympics that some high profile track stars like Ben Johnson started getting nailed for peds. Anyone who was a gym rat in the 1980s & 90s knew how much steroids infiltrated sports which non worker outers refused to believe until the stars get popped.

Today it watching millionaires play games. The gamblers care and probably helped propel the saturation coverage, stadiums, tv contracts, ticket and souvineer prices etc.

As far as football with its highly overpaid and underperforming athletes, indoor stadiums, artificial surfaces even on outdoor facilities, dancing and clowning around, and general silliness seen in today's games, I have lost interest in it. I even saw a college game where a receiver, after running for a touchdown, celebrated by jumping in the air and spinning, and landed wrong on his left leg, and tore up his knee! Not good when the NFL draft is around the corner again. I like track and field, an occasional boxing match, marathons too, but as far as the big circus of pro football....I'm done with it.
I haven't watched any professional sports in a few years. It's nothing about politics, flash and celebrity stuff. I just lost interest over the years.

Professionally speaking, I have never been interested in sports.
