Lousy Google ads, and Google eyes.

This week I got locked out of "Senior Forums". Apparently, there never was a member called "Fuzzybuddy". So, I became "used2befuzzybuddy", and rejoined. The staff at Forums helped me come back as , TA DA, "Fuzzybuddy". I have two 'me's. One is one Google as my browser, and the other on Firefox. My 'good' me uses Firefox, my evil twin uses Google. When I use Google there are all kinds of irritating flashings ads. None with Firefox. Along with the ads, there are lots of "polls", but the polls are clearly very one sided. They seemed designed to ferret out people with a particular viewpoint, rather than answer a question. It was like if they found that you loved polar bears, you'd get "contribute polar bears orgs." ads. With Google, I felt like a lab rat, always being mined for data, to be used on me some how. None of that stuff seemed to be going on with Firefox. Do you think Google is just a little too intrusive, or maybe I should adjust my tin foil hat?

It doesn't bother me in the slightest. But if it bothers you, you could try DuckDuckGo instead of using Google.

I think what Aunt Marg is referring to is that Google is not just a web browser. They go wayyyyy beyond that. Even political.

I couldn't agree more with you, 911! Great mention in including Facebook!

It’s unbelievable the amount of crimes that have been credited to Facebook posts and profiles. The very last crime that I investigated and was handed an arrest warrant for was a man that had went onto his Facebook page and wrote this real sad story of how the engine in his only family’s car seized up and needed replaced. He really needed to get back and forth to work, so he could earn money to feed his wife and 4 kids. So, he set up a “Go Fund Me” page. He had stated that he needed $5000 to replace the engine in his Hyundai. After he collected $8000, he shut down the page and removed it. We were given a tip from, of all people, his best friend that this wasn’t the case at all. He was committing fraud. Our IT investigation department was able to trace his IP address and we arrested him.

Absolutely. In fact, a brilliant idea. Maybe Facebook should be next.
I don't do face book....My family bother's me about that....I just don't need it....(I like this forum and I have another forum for a very long time)
I don't need all the gossip going on there....But I do have a sister in law sending me things about face book...I just ignore it...

911. I just caught a blip on the radio related to Facebook, just the other day related to the selling of stolen, historical, and looted artwork being bought and sold on it's platform, and how Facebook, had been approached on the matter many years early to make changes, but ignored calls for change regarding their policies, that is until now.

I don’t think even Zuckerberg knows all what Facebook is capable of. A lot of crimes have been committed using FB.

I believe it. That's why companies such as Google and Facebook should never be allowed to grow as big as they do, because there reaches a point where control becomes absent. They do as they please.
