Love Songs to Melt Hearts

Fantastic, and what a coincidence! I was playing this today in my car from my ancient iPod (The Very Best of Roberta Flack) while heading toward Alton in Staffordshire in the early evening. The song reminds me of someone who was very ill.

I'm not entirely sure why I'm posting this, but this was my view as the song ended. Always prefer approaching Alton from this road.

The third song on the same album:

I was 18 years old and had a new girlfriend. One evening, I told her about the circumstances surrounding Marvin Gaye's death and shared some of Marvin's songs with her, songs mostly before my time. That conversation must have had an impact, as the next day she called me to let me know she had just bought Marvin Gaye's Greatest Hits.

We used to listen to Marvin's songs in the car, on the hills, overlooking the suburbs as the street lights illuminated the area.
