My sister and I watched Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, and The Lone Ranger when we were kids.
Later, it was Bonanza and Gunsmoke.

Liked "West World" series .. remember "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly"?

My brothers watched something called, "Badge and Bullets" on Saturday afternoons that was a hodge podge of very old westerns, Gabby Hayes, Gene Autry, etc. I hated them and called them "The Hats." These days, I like some of the old Gunsmoke episodes and old western movies on TCM. I watched "Johnny Guitar" last week and thought it was really good.

I L❤️VE westerns! James Drury was The Virginian. It also starred Doug McClure and Lee J. Cobb. 😉

You left out "Have Gun Will Travel" (Richard Boone)! 😳 And "Laramie", with Robert Fuller 😍 and John Smith.

My most recent favorite western series is "Deadwood". It aired 2004-2006. It's a must see for serious western fans.
I really liked westerns and shoot em up's as a kid, but grew out of it in my 20's. I have wondered if females like westerns as much as males.?

Females also liked westerns, but only when they found certain cowboys attractive

Yes, girls like westerns. They also like Richard Boone 😍, and he's no beauty. So there. tongue In "Have Gun Will Travel" he was a sophisticated, erudite, bada**. I would've jumped on him in a heartbeat! 😁

Ok I am a bit embarrassed about asking such a stupid question. I remember playing cowboy's and Indians with cap pistols with other boys. I went hunting with other young men. My 2 past wives didn't like westerns much...a few with good plots...but not the typical cool story just to shoot and kill someone. That is what is kinda weird about them. They story always involves guns and deadly violence. I am always curious about what makes the male in our societies lead us in war ( mostly ). Yet it takes that male aggression to pursue the man's desired object...whatever that might be.

I also left out[The Dakotas- with Jack Elam] which lasted about a minute as the replacement for[Cheyenne]back in 1963.

No need to be embarrassed, it's not a stupid question. :) Westerns are often full of violent behavior. Some women don't like violence, so they don't like westerns.

However, I do believe to continue this discussion, you should start another thread, so we don't end up hijacking this one. For what it's worth, I'd be glad to throw in my nickel on the subject, and I'll bet so would others. 😉

True Women, Open Range, Broken Trail and of course Dances with Wolves - Some of these were movies but ended up on TV.
