Love this fall weather. Today was a cinnamon and spice kind of day.

I made apple crisp today and with the apples I had left I made some applesauce that I put in the freezer. My apple crisp has a topping of crushed cornflakes mixed with butter, cinnamon and nutmeg because I have to eat gluten free but the hubby likes it also.
The scent of the apples and spices in the house let me know I made it through another hot and humid summer. Yet, I was looking at my garden thinking of a few things I might try next year. It's in my blood I guess.apple crisp (800x600).jpgapple sause (800x600).jpg

Yummy...it looks delicious!!

Talking of fall weather, I was watching a ''live'' nature show which is a Uk show with Uk presenters , being streamed from new Hampshire this evening , they'd gone for 4 days to watch and discuss the wildlife there, and explain the differences between your and ours in the UK

What a gloriously beautiful place new Hampshire is in the autumn, everything is gold and red, and orange.. and that includes Connecticut where they were also filming..how stunningly gorgeous it all was, they even had snow last night...

Thanks holly, all the New England states are beautiful in the fall. I've been to Vermont several times just to see the fall colors. This year in New Jersey the colors aren't suppose to be that great because of all the rain we have had. I noticed they are dropping green in my yard.

Oh I can imagine they all are , Ruth, but we of course only got to see the two I mentioned...but that was plenty...sooo much to see...

We're just starting to turn colours now, give it another couple of weeks, if we don't get rain then it should look nice... before it all the leaves start dropping off.. and we get snow.

I love the fall weather too, we've already had some snow but it's warmer now and some leaves are still on the trees. Looks good Ruth, yes cinnamon and spice are a good fit for the season.

I'm a bit south of the center of the state, we're just starting to get some color. Seems late this year, but like Ruth said, our general area has had a lot of rain. We had our first frost early yesterday morning.

Oh, yum! I can smell it and taste it, and I want it! My mother, may she rest in peace, couldn't cook to save her life, but she could make apple crisp that was to die for.

Years ago when we still lived in the UP, we'd drive down country roads and pick wild apples from the trees that grew in the right of way. We didn't pay any attention to what kinds they were, just picked them and put them in sacks. I can tell you that it doesn't get any better than applesauce, apple jam, apple jelly, and apple pies made from wild apples of different kinds all cooked together.

And BTW, the fall colors in the UP are every bit as stunning as in New England! They're already two weeks past peak. As of this morning there was "heavy sNOw," and they were expecting a few inches today. I miss autumn up there, but the sNOw? Better them than me. LOL
