I just finished watching this on Amazon Prime. The movie is a couple of years old, and is called "Lucky." It stars Harry Dean Stanton, who turned in a fantastic performance at about age 90, shortly before his death.
It's a western, but not a typical one. The character he plays (just called Lucky) is not a funny, lovable character, or a curmudgeon, not brilliant, not ignorant, but a little bit of all of those. In other words, he is a human being. At times he's lonely (he's been single all his life), at times he really enjoys company (at the bar where he is a regular, he meets and has a lovely conversation with a WW2 veteran who was in the Marines. Lucky was in the Navy in that war, and they strike up an immediate friendship.)
If you get Prime, don't miss this one. You won't be sorry.
