My vehicle is in the shop overnight. Downloaded Uber first, but the fares mostly started at $20. It was about a four mile journey. Did lyft Instead. $15 fare and tipped the driver $5.
Lyft five dollars cheaper than Uber.

i have checked the price on a few of my routine trips and it seems to vary.
It’s interesting that the return trip is often significantly more expensive from some rural areas.
I’ve been reluctant to try it for fear that I will end up stranded with no way home.
I definitely need to figure this out and become comfortable with ride services before it becomes a necessity.

We use both companies for trips to the airport and events like concerts and sports.
A lot depends on the size of the area you live in.
Have found most drivers drive for both companies.
So far, we've had good experiences with using these services.

I was having problems with both of them and got tired of the constant ads so I switched back to good old taxis. Glad I did, they are offering great deals.

The story of the economy in the last four years has been about inflation. Consumer prices have risen 22% since 2020, caused largely by the twin supply shocks of COVID and then the war in Ukraine. But corporate price-gouging also bears responsibility for these price spikes, as major companies have used inflation as cover to raise the prices of goods and services way beyond costs, while at the same time raking in record profits. And few corporations have been price-gouging more aggressively than ridehail giants like Uber (and Lyft).
When Uber first entered the taxi market, it appealed to consumers with cheaper prices than most existing taxi services. Bankrolled by major venture capital firms, and dodging taxi regulations by describing itself as a “tech” company, Uber undercut the market—charging below-cost prices on rides to grow its market share, while still staying afloat. But over the last several years, the cost of ridehail services has nearly doubled. Since 2018, Uber has raised its prices by almost 18% per year, with increases in some of its major metro markets outpacing the rate of inflation by almost four times.
But it is shareholders, not drivers, who are seeing the gains. Uber is now logging record profits, but according to the limited pay data available, its drivers are making less money in real terms than they were a few years ago. In 2023, Uber drivers took home 12% less per trip than they had the previous year...

Our mechanic shop will either get the car and deliver it or give rides to the owner.

I wish our mechanic shops around here would do that but they're unable to; all the shops that I know of, they're staffed by one person, the owner, who's been unable to hire any more help. (There aren't enough young people that know the 1st thing about car engines or want to learn, it appears.)

Before I order a ride I check both Lyft and Uber. Most of the time Uber is cheaper, even factoring in the 5% cash back on Lyfts using one of my Chase cards. That card benefit started 2 years ago and ends tomorrow.
It's not unusual for me to take an Uber going and a Lyft coming back (or vice versa) because the fares can vary from hour to hour.

When we were rear-ended and dropped off our car to have it repaired, call Enterprise and they
came, picked us up and had our rental car ready for us.
We drove the rental car to pick up our car after the repairs were completed, we left the rental with
the shop and Enterprise later picked up the car from there.
A nice option and we use them when a rental is necessary.

Years ago a young woman hit my basically brand new Dodge Caravan with her really big Cadillac SUV. It was a low rate of speed but she took out lift gate, corner lights, and maybe back quarter panel. I was with Geico then and got first class everything. The body shop also told me they insisted on getting original Dodge parts since my vehicle was so new.
