Lying Flat - young Chinese workers versus the system

Lying Flat is the term for doing the minimum amount of work needed to survive. It is being done by some young people in China who feel like their efforts are not going to do much for them other than keep them alive anyway. So why bother to do more? They compare themselves to chives. They are humans whose effort can harvested often for the benefit of the upper echelons with little left over for themselves.

The Party is apparently not very happy.

Doing the minimum amount is a sign of depression, and as the Lying Flatters have no hope for a better future, why bother. Understand.
