Lymes Disease

Granddaughter has suffered terribly from this invasive disease, gone from Dr. to Dr., even trying to get an appointment with a New York specialist, who unfortunately is totally booked out.
My granddaughter has taken course after course of antibiotics, hoping she will be cured, but no, before she knows it, the TICK has returned!
Any helpful advice would be most appreciated.
We are fortunate that this invasive tick does not like Australia(prefers N. America and other countries)
Still, there were sufferers on last night's ABC program (picked up the tick elsewhere).

Susie, I hope your granddaughter can find a doctor who can help her more than the others have. It sounds like she's gone through quite an ordeal.

It seems some people have a very difficult time with recovery while others respond to treatment. We have a lot of it around here, my brother has had it 3X ! I'm not sure why, maybe the length of time for diagnosis? I hope your granddaughter gets well soon!

We live in "tick" country for half or more of the year. Every time I venture into the woods, I make sure to inspect myself closely. When I find a tick on me, I put a small drop of liquid hand soap on it, and it usually backs out within a few seconds...and then I can safely remove it. The Worst thing a person can do is crush it or pick it off the skin without making sure that the head is also removed....as these actions usually result in the bug injecting its "poison" into the bite, and substantially increasing the potential for contracting Lyme disease. Ticks can be quite dangerous, but if carefully removed, they are little more than a nuisance.

Thank you, Don M. for your valuable advice regarding ticks!
Will e-mail my granddaughter this morning, let her know about the liquid hand soap!
