It looks like we will have a clear sky here in the southern US, and the Lyrid meteor shower is at its peak right now, with up to 20 visible each hour.
When the moon eclipse happened, we had heavy cloud cover, so it was not visible here; but the meteor shower lasts for several days, giving everyone a better chance to watch it and observe some of the meteors.
Apparently, we go through the tail of a comet every year around this time, and that is where the meteor showers come from.
