Mac OS Tahoe - are you using it?

My MacBook Pro is running on Sequoia 15.7.3. I've received notification from Apple that a new operating system, Tahoe, is just a click & a restart away. Are you using it? If so, what do you think of it?

Do you see advantages? Or are there things you don't like about it?

I have Tahoe (version 26.2) on my Mac Desktop …. can’t say that I am thrilled with it at times. .. it feels a little unsecure for lack of a better description.

…. things pop up on the screen from random areas of the operating system that I have never seen before.

Nothing terrible has happened yet - lol - but maybe they need to fine-tune something with their updates. JMO

Currently on Sonoma 14.6.1 and all working well.

I have friends who have tried Tahoe and have nothing good to say.

I always wait for at least 3 patches or updates getting good reviews before I upgrade an OS.

General rule: If it ain't broken don't fix it!

That's interesting. I'm not new to online computers... 30 years. A few months ago, when I okayed the "upgrade" from the previous Mac operating system, I noticed how different numerous routine operations were. Possibly these changes allow more options, but also I've found it more difficult to set simple system preferences of my choice. Actions that I feel should be direct & simple.

Frustrating. Makes me wary of Tahoe.

My very first Apple computer experience was in 1985.. I worked for an International company here in Houston.
work computer looked just like this:

… it was all business, no fun …. so when I went to buy a home computer, I bought a Dell system with Windows. I soon learned that I didn’t like Microsoft and anything to do with their operating system.
So back to an Apple Mac I went and never looked back. I’m not sure how many Mac desktops I’ve owned …maybe 5?

Don’t mean to scare anyone with my Tahoe review, as I do use it everyday and wouldn’t go back to anything else.

I've got Tahoe on my Macbook Pro. I'm not thrilled with it. When waking the screen it does a double flash before the desktop stays open. It's taking longer to logon. This morning I was watching the antenna thing scrolling and scrolling all while I was reading the forum. Then several minutes later it dropped.

My Apple watch no longer opens the screen when it's sleeping. A couple of nights ago the thing didn't go to sleep and drained the battery. Last night I told it to go to sleep, it did. A few minutes later it woke back up.

It's very buggy.

I'm on Sonoma and keep getting this annoying popup telling me to upgrade to Tahoe. So I read about it and learned Tahoe is a very heavy OS meaning it uses more resources than it's predecessors. It can bog down older Macs (especially the intel ones) and draining the battery quicker. Its got AI and an enhanced display called Liquid Glass which is supposedly beautiful but which can suck the power. Sonoma requires fewer resources. You really need a later model silicone Mac to run Tahoe. Even though I have an M1 Macbook Pro 14 that I bought refurbished it ain't broke so I'm not going to fix it.
