Major power failures in Spain, France and Portugal

Well they are still spinning the "blame spinner" trying to assign a cause as far as I can tell. Right now it seems to be back to "bizarre weather phenomena" due to... you guessed it: "global warming."

All that seem to be ruled out are "cyber attacks" and some wildfire that was occurring somewhere in France.

But yeah, there is still much tap-dancing going on. It remains a confusing situation.

If they went partially green, then demolished the gas power stations,
before proving the system, then they get no wind at night, after the
sun has gone, the few Nuclear stations that are still running, don't
produce enough to cover the defunct gas turbine stations.

IMO spain and portugal are slap happy but france should be doin better???

I think the issue is interconnected grids.

Once problems occur and things start shutting down it can trigger a cascade effect as subgrids disconnect to protect themselves from overloads and such. This can increase load elsewhere, more trip out in self-defense, and things begin falling like dominoes.

Massachusetts is now in a panic that they are in a very similar situation and when they fall they can take surrounding states and maybe some Canadian provinces with them.

The material I have read says that Massachusetts plans 70% "renewables" (mostly wind), well past the tipping point of grid instability. They are also using the same company to do this that was used in Spain and Portugal, and are sourcing wind turbines from the same manufacturer.

The only "print news" sites covering this have paywalls, and my "free articles" count has been exhausted. But a search turns up this video:

Think the Chinese are working on a Super Battery! These power outages are bound
to happen with the intent to turn on the HVAC's. Can't think what a Million Tesla's in
St. Louis charging constantly could do here. 92 degrees most all summer.
