One man was killed and five other people injured after gunfire erupted at a Bronx train station Monday afternoon.

The New York City Police Department launched an investigation after shots were fired on the uptown 4 train platform at the Mount Eden Avenue station around 4:30 pm.

The violence broke out after a fight began on a train and spilled onto the platform, police said.

A NYPD spokesperson said that a 35-year-old male was killed.

Earlier reports said a teenage girl had died after being taken to a local hospital, which the spokesperson corrected.

Of the survivors, three were male and two were female, the spokesperson said.

The males were aged 15, 28 and 71, while the females were aged 14 and 29.

According to the New York City Fire Department, four people sustained serious injuries while one was left with minor injuries.

It is unclear if there were multiple shooters, but the suspect or suspects fled on foot, authorities said.

Looks at the state of that train... good lord, don't they get cleaned ?

At least five injured, one killed in NYC subway station shooting

Latest I saw was that a dispute broke out betwwen some teens and spilled out onto the platform, where the shooting took place, after the doors opened.

Almost two years ago to the day, 6 people were stabbed in a NYC subway. And in April 2022, a gunman opened fire & shot 10 people. People have also been pushed onto the tracks!

I have a good friend that retired as a Lt. with the NYPD as a lead detective. Every time we got together, it seemed like his job was to get me to move my family to NY and join the force. I finally had to tell him “No, and to close the book.” He did everything, except insist that I move to NY.

He had told me one time that only about 50-60% of the murder cases are solved. There are too many cases to work on at one time that they run out of time. Each detective gets about 2 weeks to solve their newest case and then they have to move on to the next case. To me, that’s not good policing.

Now that they have lost a lot of cops in NYC, I would imagine the situation and numbers are worse. I don’t see NYC as a safe city to visit. I know or have read on the internet that their tourism has also been effected by the crime situation in the Big Apple.

I found this to be interesting.
