Virtual Care

Before we moved out east to the Atlantic region, we were aware of the lack of medical health care available.

We’ve been here 2 1/2 years already have a nurse practitioner but also have access to free virtual care. It’s done through an app.

You’d think virtual care wouldn’t be nearly as effective as visiting a nurse practitioner or doctor in person but for myself, this service is even better.

I’ve used virtual care about 5 times now and am very impressed with it.
You open up an account and add necessary details Each time I log on I upload my identification as well as my health care and rarely have to wait long to talk with a medical health practitioner.

None of them can prescribe dangerous narcotics but can redirect to a doctor who can and soon. This appointment can also just be done over the phone.

The last 2 times I’ve called. I could not have been more satisfied than I have been.
Without getting into my problem for calling this morning, this nurse practitioner helped me verify that my instincts about the meds I was taking were right.

None of these appointments did I feel rushed or not listened to. One nurse practitioner actually waited to counsel me due to an issue but never once did I feel uncomfortable . The patience and understanding were prevalent.

I really dislike going to doctors offices. I’d still go but reluctantly.
Virtual Care, which is done via FaceTime / or by phone ( your choice ) is a great way to get medical treatment, especially for those who can’t physically go to an appointment in person physically.

Virtual Care gives people , who might not be capable to make a regular office appointment , other options .

MAPLE is the virtual service I use. It’s offered free in the province I live. I’m not sure how much it is in the rest of our country and the United States, but it’s definitely worth looking into. They fill out forms to get blood work done, fill out request forms for refills, or send you to a specialist if needed.

I’m highly suggested this company, cause they deserve it and so do you.

I live in Los Angeles, California. A very big city. So getting in to see a doctor is quite easy. Sounds to me that what you experience would be for is a rural area where there are few doctors or medical facilities. There's been lots of anxiety in rural areas in the U.S. about getting enough healthcare since their 'unprofitable' hospitals are closing down which means there will also be fewer doctors around. So, your experience sounds like a great solution for this issue. The very unfortunate difference between your system of medicine and ours is that ours is solely based on making a profit by providers. If service were the priority I can see how your suggestion would really work. Thanks for posting your experience.

The really screwy aspect of the for profit only system of medicine in the U.S. is that rural areas are the most underserved. And, at the same time these locations present the bulwark of conservatism that prevents any sort of socialized medicine in the U. S. from flourishing. So few feel sorry for their lack and need.

Our Devoted Health advantage plan is offering a virtual health PCP option this year, and we have decided to try it out. We have our first online visit this Friday. The doctors can prescribe medications and order lab work done, the same as if we went to a local doctor here, but we don’t have to drive in traffic downtown, or sit in a waiting room for an hour to see the doctor.
Neither of us gets sick sick, so we mostly just go in for our regular lab work , and it seems like have the online doctor should work just fine for us.
Since it is through our insurance company, that will connect the doctor and the medications even better, too. We both talked about it and decided that it is at least worth trying out, and if we don’t like it, we can switch back to a regular local doctor.

I would still be seeing my cardiologist, but that is a once a year visit, and they do the pacemaker checks remotely, so all of that will be fine, too.
