Marriages between different religions

My nephew was raised Protestant & married a Jewish girl & he converted to Judaism. They celebrate holidays on both sides with each family side. Their kids are learning about each side of the family this way.

My uncle's wife Mom was Catholic & Dad was Protestant. They decided to send the eight kids to both churches every other Sunday & let the kids decide which they wanted to become a member of when the time came. If I remember, it was pretty much split down the middle. That worked for them & I don't recall hearing of any religious family feuds.

It can work out when both sides when an effort for it to succeed even when others insist putting their nose & two-cents worth in it.

This very famous photo has circulated on the Net for years. Most recently it has been mis-identified as an Irish couple buried in separate cementeries due to their different religions.

The photo is real, but it was NOT Ireland - it was Roermond, Netherlands. The husband, Jacobus Warnerus Constantinus van Gorkum, died in 1880, and was buried in the Protestant section of the cemetery. His wife, Josephine van Aefferden, passed away in 1888, but could not be buried with him due to the religious segregation in the cemetery at that time. Although the wall divides their graves, they are nonetheless in the same cemetery, but in separate sections.
No doubt they are in the same place now! I assume... Love the story!
