He's being tried for 6 counts of murder & many terrible injuries. He drove his SUV into a crowd at a Christmas parade. He has a long criminal history - Child Sex Crimes, Firearms Violations, Drugs, etc.
He's allowed to cross examine witnesses & victims. He's asking lots of dumb questions & delaying the trial.
What a charade - like the justice system isn't already a joke!

A criminal who represents himself has a fool for a lawyer.
 
A little research shows that the Court empaneled the Jury, not Brooks. I was wondering that! He does not even know how that process works? Collin Ferguson deja vu. One thing I do know, at any later stage, appeal, etc. it is extremely difficult to argue with any legal merit the Judge should not have let him represent himself, that is why he floundered.
 
Colin Ferguson,late 80s,early 90s,shot up a Long Island Railroad car also represented himself,seemed like a bit of a circus to me and an insult to our justice system.
I wonder why people that attempt this aren't given some type of competency evaluation?
 
I bet his conviction will be overturned at some future date. He'll get an attorney who will argue that he didn't get a fair trial & he shouldn't have been allowed to represent himself.

The judge followed the law but Brooks blames everything on someone besides himself. He tried using religion as a way to manipulate the way others see him. Someone brought up George Floyd, both men were life long criminals. Even down to end he rambled and no sense made of what he was trying to say. He is the one who fired his attorney not the judge or the victims of of the crime he committed. I watched the whole trial and Brooks tried convincing everyone that he is insane but he is the one that chose the path of which he will walk. Of course the trial is going to be racist that’s the blacks manipulate the legal system. He doesn’t have any remorse of his horrible crimes. His words at the end is nonsensical.
