We've (my neighbors & I) have been having an interesting crime wave of sorts recently. Some low life is stealing the little solar lights that seniors use to see their sidewalk at night. They have been coming up missing over the last few weeks. The ones who have lost them said they seen someone on a bike riding along the streets late at night. Last night my wife & daughter was sitting out having a glass of wine on our porch it was after 10PM. They told me about the biker. I then went outside, sat for maybe 10 minutes & low & behold he/her came by again. Had a coat on (even though it was 80), a baseball type hat & a backpack.
I noticed no reflective indications on him/her or the bike. Told the family that the target wasn't large items (bike/backpack issue) but why would they steal solar lights. My daughter looked it up this morning, evidently there is some value in the components of the lights, can't be much value because they lights are less than $10 each. I guess you get enough of them it would be like gathering aluminum cans. Maybe it's their 401K plan.
