Hi! My brother has(will be had) WellAbe for his supplement G. He has had knee surgery a bout 3-4 years ago. He went to the doctor to check why he doesn't have full use of his leg. He limps. He also went to get his hearing checked. He knows he needs a hearing aid,and the ones he's tried, to put it bluntly, suck. He received his bills, and this WellAbe won't honor any payments. They tell him now that they don't cover these type of medical issues. Are there any companies that cover this? Any recommendation for a supplement G insurer? Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think all supplement plans only pay for services approved by Medicare. Did the doctor that looked at his leg submit the claim to Medicare as 'primary' and WellAbe as 'secondary'? If Medicare didn't approve it, check that the doctor's office coded it properly.
My understanding is that hearing is not covered by Medicare (so therefore would not be covered by supplement plans).

Medicare is the determining authority on what services are medically necessary and pays first, then Medigap is required to pay their portion according to the terms of the Medigap plan in effect.
Hearing aids are not covered by traditional Medicare, therefore not covered by Medigap.
Medicare Part B generally covers doctor visits to investigate a persistent limp, provided the appointment is deemed medically necessary to diagnose or treat a current health issue.

I currently have a Medicare Advantage plan because the Medigap plan I used to have continued to cost more each year. My Medigap plan was through Mutual of Omaha. They never refused to pay their portion of any claim that Medicare deemed necessary.
