Einstein was found in a ditch yesterday in absolutely deplorable condition. He’s definitely a senior, appears to be blind, has minimal hearing, (both just from old age as far as we can tell) rotten teeth, and skin seborrhea and irritations from his coat being so matted. His ears were completely plugged up with fur and wax and other detritus. He was a wretched, awful mess!
My daughter Paige and I worked together to shave him down completely, He was so matted that the fur was pulling on his skin really hard, limiting his movement! We gave him a medicated soak, bathed him, cleaned out his ears, clipped his nails (they were so long he couldn’t walk properly) oiled his skin and treated the seborrhea. He got all his shots and an IV of fluids because he was so dehydrated.
Now he’s home with me and will stay here while continue the medicated baths and other medical treatments. He will live in the lap of luxury, be coddled and pampered and loved on and showered with attention till he’s ready to go to a senior dog rescue in a few days.
TRIGGER WARNING: I’m posting before pics but be aware they’re graphic.
If you’d prefer, skip down to the comments where I’ll post some after pics, and I’ll continue to post till he leaves.
