Meeting Ameca, the future of humanoid robots, was totally surreal.

It’s a fine line between uncanny and creepy with humanoid robots. The resemblance of Ameca to the robots in the Will Smith vehicle I, Robot is striking. Call me old fashioned, but I rather prefer my robots less humanoid, and more like Robbie the Robot in the classic movie, Forbidden Planet…

I wouldn't want a human face on my house-bot. I'd prefer no facial features at all, just a walking 5ft tall Siri with four highly functional arms and hands and 2 or more legs, or wheels instead. And a man's voice.

All I care about js if it can do dishes, vacuum, and shovel snow. I don't know about the human features. But you know, down the line, some idiot is going to want to marry one. Then there will be this long drawn out campaign for robot rights. Awwwwwwww.

I would like my robot to look human, yea I know...becoming too attached to a machine is a possibility. But, talking to my dogs all day long has got to be kinda weird. I mean, they listen- that's good, but they never really reply in a coherent way. Plus, the dogs have no thumbs, can't even work the TV remote or open the fridge.

Robotics is advancing in Japan at a fast pace, hotels staffed with robots are springing up rapidly there.

I've seen those homemade animal videos where, a few times, dog owners actually did train their dogs to open the refrigerators, bring the owners cans of beer, then go back and close the refrigerator doors. :ROFLMAO: oh, and later took the empty cans to the wastepaper basket.

I doubt if any cat would do that... they'd say get your own danged beer!!!
